Description
#1 of 1 2015 HELLCAT CHALLENGER PRODUCTION TEST CAR. THE ONLY ONE IN EXISTENCE.
1ST PRODUCTION HELLCAT BUILT FOR CANADA.
1ST HELLCAT BUILT FOR ALL MARKETS.
1ST HELLCAT BUILT AFTER THE UNIQUE BARRETT JACKSON CAR THAT SOLD FOR $825,000.00 USD
THIS CAR WAS BUILT ON SEPT 11TH 2014 BEFORE VIN #00002 WHICH WAS BUILT SEPT 12TH 2014 GIVING IT 00001 STATUS.
THIS HELLCAT WAS PERSONALLY ORDERED AND DRIVEN BY REID BIGLAND, THE PRESIDENT OF CHRYSLER FOR ALL OF NORTH AMERICA.
This is not the average Hellcat and it is priced to reflect that fact. MSRP bids will automatically be declined.
Of course a car with such a unique story requires some explanation, so here it is……
I will do my best to summarize the life of this car and how it fits into the sequence of events in regards to the testing and building of hellcats here in Canada. For you spelling and grammar sticklers you're just going to have to tough it out. I don't write books for a living. I'll also have to give a bit of a lesson on VIN allocation and it's not simple. VINS are no longer an accurate representation of exact build date/order in fact they never really were exact. If you want to verify these facts independently I highly recommend you get in touch with a Chrysler dealer in your area that you have a working relationship with. You'll need someone working in the dealership that will be willing to log on to DealerConnect and verify some of these facts with you. This will take someone some time and they will need to start with VIN 1, the Barrett Jackson car. All you'll need is the last 8 characters of the VIN and whatever mileage you want to do a search with. The last 8 for the Barrett jackson car is FH700001. I compiled a list of cars starting at 1 all the way to 135. Only 17 hellcats exist within this range of 135 vins. The remainder of cars in this range are U.S. market SXT and Scat pack cars but not all. There are also large blocks of empty vins from 700017-700042. No cars are assigned to these vins.
As you may know ALL Hellcats are produced at the Brampton plant in Ontario, Canada. They make all US, Canadian, German and other markets vehicles here at the same time. Not only that, all LX/LD/LC platform cars like 300, challenger and charger are all made at in the same plant at the same time. You can have any one of these body styles, or trim levels, on the line on any given day and you can have a US car right behind a Canadian car at the same time. Another very important thing is Vins are not assigned in order or built in order. The vins for challenger and charger run together within the FH7xxxxx block so there is no hellcat charger vin 00001 but there is obviously a first car somewhere. Overall they are generally in order but it's not absolute. They can be in any order and the explanation for this has been beat to death by the guys at SRT and several online forums.. There are also blocks of vins that don't exist or have been pulled out as crash test cars early in a vehicle lines production lifespan. These cars are a somewhat new product so a large chunk went to be used for crashes. Its very important to know all this when looking at the data.
Before any hellcats were built, to wind up in the hands of a customer, they built a minimum of 105 test vehicles (mules) starting in 2013. These VINS have been compiled by Chrysler employees. These are the cars that get the hell beat out of them and some are wrecked during testing. Blown engines, crashes on the track etc. There are many of them still remaining at training and test centres right now. In fact one of them was documented sitting in the drive thru of a dealership in Michigan. Just google hellcat test car. All of these cars were assigned VINs in the FH500xxx block. The 500 prefix is used for test vins quite often if not always. Eventually these cars will be crushed with a few being stripped for parts that will go to technician training centres. It's pure speculation if any will survive intact at all but maybe one or two will go to the Walter P. Chrysler museum.
This Hellcat IS NOT the 100th car and heres why. VIN 1 was built on Aug 18 2014 and it started out life as a black car and was later stripped down and painted the special red for the Barrett Jackson auction. It was specifically built for this purpose and was never a car that was meant to make it to joe average through a dealer. It was purely a media spectacle car. If you look in dealerconnect it lists it as a black car even though its now red. The car in this auction, VIN FH700100, was built on Sept 11 2014 and VIN FH700002, which is one of at least 2 hellcats owned by Richard Rawlings of Gas monkey/ Fast N Loud, was built the next day, Sept 12 2014. VIN FH700003 was built on Sept 27 2014. The next few hellcats were built in October and onward. by the end of November only 17 hellcats were built within the 100 range. This is including two chargers #57 + #58 which may be test cars. All of these build dates can be verified by a dealer in DealerConnect. So in essence there are two #1 cars or you can look at the Barrett Jackson car as a standalone 1 of 1 car which it is. It is also a well supported theory, held by some workers there, that the Barrett jackson car is the 106th pre-production car and they took VIN 1 and gave it to it. This explains why it doesn't have 00001 status. My VIN FH700100 is the 00001 car in Chryslers system but its not something a technician or salesman has access to. In fact you'll find most dealership staff will have no actual knowledge of the VIN allocation situation in the plant with the hellcats.
So how this car came to be and its history. Reid Bigland (the current president of Chrysler North America) personally ordered this car to be built Aug 5 2014. It was meant to be his personal vehicle. It was built by September and he drove it for a short period until he gave it up as stated in his letter to me. After that it went to the ARDC research centre in Windsor in October 2014. When they were done with it sometime in early December it went into storage so it could be quietly sent out for sale. So it was in Chryslers possession from the day it was built right up until it was sold to me. Provincial Chrysler in Windsor decided to take the car in early February 2015 where I made a deal to purchase it from them in early March. They DID NOT know that the car was such an early build! or that it was a test vehicle. I was told that no Chrysler employees were allowed to purchase the car or sell it to someone they knew or they would be fired (just a rumour at this point). I researched the car thru many contacts within chrysler and by the time I had compiled my own VIN info the deal was wrapped up. My salesman contacted some people he knew that worked higher up and they emailed him back with confirmation. They did say it was Reid Biglands car but had no formal info other than internal rumours. That has been confirmed by Reid Bigland himself in his letter. It is the one and ONLY regular production hellcat challenger built as a test car. There are no others except in the 500 block pre-production cars which are not in public hands. As for the PER code cars, there are only 4. They are vins 001,002,003,100. PER cars from what I found are for quality control within the plant and have also been referred to as Pilot cars.
To finalize, if you google some of the famous first build cars like a 55 T-Bird for example you'll see that its VIN is not #1 but it's the first car. There are many examples like this from all car makers across several decades so its not a new thing. Chrysler does not offer a formal authentication service for the cars it builds anymore. To the best of my knowledge All research info is compiled within the community by owners, Chrysler employees and enthusiasts and it has been this way since about 1967. There is a Chrysler heritage society which uses chrysler build punch card archives to provide info but it stops at the 1967 model year. This is probably because of computers entering the scene. I suggest visiting challengertalk.com forums. There are several in the know members on those forums that provide info but you have to do some reading to see who they are. Hopefully I haven't missed anything. After the 2015s are done being built all of the build info is going to be broken down organized and posted online. It will identify how many black cars there are, how many manual trannys, how many per country etc.
If anyone sees a mistake in relation to information and have verifiable proof id like to see it and I will amend as required. All documents have been received from Chrysler. Due to various privacy laws i can't post the emails publicly as most if not all have peoples names, emails and phone numbers in them. I can send related documents to serious buyers via email.
THE CAR IS A BLACK ON BLACK, SUPERCHARGED HELLCAT A8 CAR, FULL LOAD WITH BLACK LAGUNA SEATS, NAV, 26R PACKAGE.
DOCUMENTED 1 OF 1 CODE "4AT" TEST VEHICLE AND PERSONAL DEMO OF REID BIGLAND.
IT IS ALSO 1 OF 4 CODE "599" (PER) "PRODUCTION EVALUATION RUN" VEHICLES
BESIDES BEING THE ONLY PRODUCTION CAR (NOT PRE-PRODUCTION) LISTED AS A TEST CAR ON ITS BUILD SHEET IT'S ALSO THE ONLY CANADIAN PRODUCTION EVALUATION RUN CAR. THIS VEHICLE IS A 1 OF 1 CAR IN MANY REGARDS. Since the Barrett Jackson car is a one off hand built car with a unique second paint job, that makes this "Cat" the truly rarest unmolested production Hellcat built.
IT WAS KEPT IN THE UNDERGROUND EXECUTIVE GARAGE AS A DEMO AND THEN IT WAS KEPT AT THE ARDC AUTOMOTIVE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CENTRE IN WINDSOR AFTER MR. BIGLAND HANDED IT OVER TO THEM. FROM THERE IT WAS QUIETLY SENT OUT FOR SALE THROUGH A LOCAL WINDSOR DEALER AS A USED CAR. IT DOES HAVE MILEAGE FROM BEING A DEMO AND TEST VEHICLE. SOME MILES ARE LIKELY TO BE DYNO TIME BUT THAT HAS NOT BEEN VERIFIED.
I HAVE DOCUMENTATION FOR ALL CLAIMS IN THIS AUCTION.
I also have documents for the vehicles chain of custody from the time is was just a number in the computer to the time it put into my care.
THE RARITY OF THE THIS CAN NOT BE UNDERSTATED. As of May 23/15 Only 5000 HELLCATS HAVE BEEN BUILT FOR THE WHOLE WORLD, THE NUMBERS OF 2015 HELLCATS WILL BE THE LOWEST AND MOST DESIRABLE. THIS CAR IS RARE EVEN WITHOUT ITS UNIQUE PROVENANCE!
*Note that I've been told that the 2015 production year for hellcats has been extended to september and if someone from Chrysler can verify that info on paper ill amend as required.
