Description
“There is no replacement, for displacement,” a famous line used by
American Muscle lovers, and to quite a few people, words to live by. Mopar has
followed these words like they were religious and have fitted really big
engines, majority of the time naturally aspirated, to their SRT vehicles. Times
are changing though, and so is SRT. Not by much though, so hold on to your
suspenders. New to 2015 and limited in production, Dodge introduced the
Challenger Hellcat. A factory modified version of the standard SRT Challenger,
surprisingly with a smaller engine, however that was easily made up for with a
2.4L Supercharger strapped on top of it, producing a staggering 707 Horsepower.
This car was mad, however was useless if you wanted to get in the back seat, or
really use it every day. Dodge addressed this issue right away, and put that
passionate, screaming, mind-boggling heart, into their humble, 4-door, family
sedan. The Charger Hellcat was born, and my-oh-my was it angry. Slight
aerodynamic improvements made it faster than its 2-door brother, and only
available with an automatic transmission, the Charger Hellcat was more
practical as well, especially since it had a usable back seat and a trunk you
can actually fit ‘things’ in. With a claimed 204 mph top speed, it could also very
well be the World’s Fastest Production Sedan, and deserving of the title it
was. 0-60 Mph happens in a bone-shaking 3.4 Seconds, and with massive 6-piston
Brembo brakes in the front and 4-piston Brembos in the rear, stopping this car
from 70 mph takes a mere 153 feet. Its not all fun and games though, with
Navigation, Sunroof, a Heated Steering Wheel, and Heated and Cooled front
seats, this doesn’t always have to be mad. An Eco-mode is available for the
6.2L V8 as well, which in truth is comic relief, but usable however on a
day-to-day basis. You won’t see as many of these as you might think, knowing
how desirable these beasts are. 750 were produced, and this, in Redline Pearl,
is the 66th. Depending on your mood, in the mornings, you can quite
literally Execute Order-66. Star Wars jokes aside, this Charger is the complete
package. A daily driver sedan, with eye-opening power for those special
occasions, all wrapped up into one. Until the fuel-sippers arrive with their
Greenpeace signs, this is the undisputed king of American 4-door performance. When
do you want to be king?
