Description

This is an excellent driver quality car for the Mopar enthusiast. Before getting into the details, Mopar purists beware: This is NOT a numbers matching vehicle, and this car does not have a build sheet or fender tag. This restoration was a labor of love to save a piece of Mopar history from the crusher to keep another one of these great cars on the road. If having a numbers matching Mopar with a corresponding build sheet and fender tag is your goal, this car is not for you. However, if you want a piece of Mopar history that is eye-catching on the road, then read on
Car was completely disassembled and stripped to bare metal for paint and body work
This is a true "R/T" car
Floor pans and trunk were solidDeck filler panel and passenger side rear quarter were replaced and welded inPrimed and painted dark blue. Car was orignally medium blue factory color.
Bumble Bee stripe painted on (not a decal)8 cyl "RB" engine block 1966-1972 - Not a motorhome engine; Needs tuning but runs fine around townHeaders installed on the engine are coded properly to 1968 though were not original to this vehicle
A-833 Chrysler 4 speed transmission with hurst shifter and reverse light on dash frameDana 60 9 3/4 rear end with 11" drum brakes
Performance exhaust kit from TTI with dual chrome exhaust tips
Front brakes converted from drum to disc brakes (see pics) for improved stopping power
New 750cfm Edelbrock carburetor
New 3/8" steel fuel linesRallye dash instrumentation cluster
Center console (technically a 1969 console with wood grain for Mopar purists - not a 1968 console)Dome and center console lighting function appropriately
New carpet and upholstery, new front bucket seats new foam cushion, new headliner
New performance leaf springsPower steering - gear box rebuilt by Steer & GearSteel plate reinforced lower control arms by Firm Feel (see pics)
Bilstein shock absorbers (see pics)
Pertronix electronic ignition installedEngine runs and stays cool when warmed up; good oil pressure and new 55 amp alternator charges the batteryAll exterior lighting on vehicle (headlights, bright lights, side markerlights, turn signals, brake lights, reverse lights, etc), illuminateappropriately. This car is very clean on the inside and outside. Even the K member and upper control arms were powder coated black to protect from rust and corrosion. As a complete disassembly restoration project, the car is eye-catching both inside and out to the classic car enthusiast.
Areas for improvement:
No original reproduction decals have been affixed to the vehicle.Other minor accessory components should be installed such as hood insulation, bumper jack, trunk mat, OER decals, etc.
Instrumentation wiring should be completed. The dash does not light up at night and some accessories do not work or work correctly (i.e. blower motor, wipers)Tic Tok Tach installed but only the clock works. A separate dash has been mounted to the steering column as an interim solution.Temperature and oil pressure gauges do not function. An underdash auto meter gauge cluster has been installed as an interim solution (the autometer gauges are electric gauges -- not mechanical gauges -- so there is no risk of oil or coolant leaking into the interior of the vehicle). The glove box latch is missing and will need to be replaced and installed for the glove box door to latch properlyThe vent windows do not seal tightly with the rubber weatherstripping. Washing the car or driving in rain must be done with that in mind. I am including in the sale another set of new reproduction vent windows for the vehicle. The driver side REAR passenger seat is missing the armrest. I am including a new armrest with the sale of this vehicle; however, an arm rest bracket must be installed. These brackets are sold by YearOne or CI and are relatively inexpensive to acquire. The Z bar bracket mounted on the frame rail is bolted - not welded (see picture). For long-term durability, it should be welded down to prevent any slippage over time; however the bolted solution has not hindered the performance of the vehicle or the clutch mechanism in any way thus far and feels solid.
Some paint is peeling off the lower frame rail beneath the master cylinder due to some brake fluid leaking during a previous brake service. The peel is isolated to that area. See pics.I believe the turn signal switch in the steering column is in need of replacing. This is because the brake lights, when the brake pedal is depressed, do not illuminate even though the switch at the brake pedal and rear wiring harness is functional. As a temporary solution, the brake light wiring bypasses the turn signal switch so that the exterior lighting on the rear of vehicle functions appropriately when the brake pedal is depressed during vehicle operation.Other minor cosmetic blemishes (see pics)Actual mileage of vehicle unknown
I've tried to be as straight-forward as possible regarding condition of the vehicle, and transparency regarding the vehicle's condition is important to me. If you're a serious buyer and have additional questions not addressed here or would like more detail, feel free to send me a message and I will respond promptly.
I am also happy to accommodate an on-site inspection and test drive of the vehicle for any potential buyer local to the area prior to purchase. I have the title in hand, it is free and clear, in my name, and ready to transfer to a new owner. The car is currently registered and insured in California and is current on its tags as an operating, smog-exempt vehicle.
Although the Buyer is responsible for arranging and paying for shipping the vehicle, I am happy to make reasonable accommodation so that vehicle is tendered for delivery to the Buyer without issue.
This car is also being listed locally, so I reserve the right to cancel this auction at any time if necessary.
