1951 DODGE WAYFARER 3-PASSENGER BUSINESS COUPE
This is neat old dodge coupe. I go to a lot of car shows and have never seen this year of business coupe. For those who aren't familiar, the business coupe was designed for the travelling salesman to be able to haul more inventory. There is no back seat and there never was one. The divider between the trunk and the cabin, was not put in these cars so more and longer items, boxes, etc, could be hauled. These have a desirable hot rod look with the smaller cab and longer trunk. It would be cool as an easy rat rod, gasser, street rod, sleeper or restore to original. It would be a neat salt flat racer too. It has really cool patina that was clear coated. It really pops in the sun, but it was overcast when I took the pics. This car is about original as they come, including the original wheels and hubcaps. Clear title in my name. Feel free to ask questions. All the specifics are below. Thanks and happy bidding.
MECHANICAL
The dodge has the flathead six-cylinder with a gyromatic auto/manual three-speed. I was told the car ran when parked, but that was decades ago. I pulled the spark plugs and put penetrating oil in the cylinders. To turn the crank on this model, you need to take the radiator out to get on the crank bolt. I planned to do that but got busy with other things. The gyromatic was a manual/automatic hybrid, the same as the chrysler fluid/drive. You start out using the clutch then they will shift like an automatic. If it doesn't work or you don't like it, many people switch to a standard three speed manual or three speed with overdrive. I planned to just put a newer subframe in it with an LS small block and auto. I have never tried the brakes but I'm sure the master cylinder at least needs replaced and it may need brakes all around. The engine is complete with the exception of the air cleaner. The car steers fine for loading. The front tires are usable newer tires. The rear are old bias-ply junk but they hold air for transport.

INTERIOR
This has the original interior. All of the upholstery needs re-done. For a rat rod type low budget car, I would put a new carpet/floormat in it and a seat cover and it would be good to go. The original radio is included and has the knobs. I have a box of various other hardware that comes with the car also.
BODY
The body on the car is in really nice shape for an un-restored 71 year old car. The exterior is very straight. It's missing a trim piece on each side and I can help you find those. Both doors open/shut, and the hood and trunk do also. The trunk latch handle is broke off but included. It may be fixable but I'm sure those are around also. There is no exterior rust on the car. The front floorpans have rust. They are still solid enough for a ratrod type car. The rear pans behind the seat have minor rust. Unless your doing a high-end restoration, I wouldn't even repair the rear pans. The trunk has no rust. Frame, fenders, doors, hood, cowl, firewall, package tray/rear deck, inner fenders, rockers, sills, jams, roof, drip rails, etc. etc. have no rust. This car came from high desert country. Passenger door latch needs adjusted but it does shut and latch fine. It just takes a little finessing. This car has a really cool ram hood ornament. Overall, the body is in nice shape. I planned an LS swap and some bigger 15" tires on the stock rims to give it a tough sleeper look. I believe some glass may need replaced (or use it cracked), but it is all flat and easy to get replacements. Note: there is condensation on the outside of the windows in the pics. This happens in Montana because it is cold at night this time of year. It is not from any moisture inside.
OVERALL
This old classic dodge is sold as-is. I'd love to keep the car but have more projects than time.
