Description

Hi You are bidding on a 1968 Dodge Dart GTS 2 door hardtop. The car is in original condition, very well taken care of over the years. The car has not been restored, but it was repainted sometime in its life, it looks very nice. There is no rust on the car or rust holes in the body, very solid original car. I have a couple of pictures of the underside. The car originally was from out west from the state of Wyoming. The car was ordered from Chrysler the way it sits today with no rear tail bumblebee stripe. I have owned the car since 2004 and have done a few things to it and it has been stored it inside a heated barn on carpet since I have owned it. It has a 383 cu. in. big block with a 4spd trans all numbers matching, a 8 3/4 stock rear end. It has the stock radiator with a stock 4bbl. carb. with stock exhaust manifolds and exhaust. The motor runs great!. The heads have been freshend up, it does have a newer mopar distributor, but I have the original one that came with the car. The body is in very nice shape as you can see in the pics. It has the mopar stock (off white) color. I have had the front grill and headlight bezels restored along with the tail panel trim on the trunk. The front and rear bumpers along with the bumper guards have been rechromed, also all new wheel well trim. The rest of the trim on the car is original and in excellent condition. I have tried to enhance the look and preserve the condition of the car and keep the originality. I have replaced the clutch and pressure plate and throw out bearing, also the front inner/outer tie rods on the front end. I also replaced the battery, battery tray and battery cables; stock battery from Antique battery company to keep it original. The picture of the engine compartment shows the old battery and cables.
The interior is black with the original headliner, the carpet has been replaced. The front buckets, door panels and rear side panels are in excellent condition and the back seat is also in excellent condition. It has a 4 spd. center console with the factory swivel tach. It is a factory radio delete car. The dash is in very nice shape too, no cracks in the dash pad. It has the light group on it, map light with the under the dash light that comes on when you open the doors, rear window defogger blower option too. The glass and weatherstrip is in very nice shape all around. The trunk area is in nice shape with the original jacking instructions on the inside of the lid, the jack handle and base and the main part of the jack has been restored (see pic), also a new trunk mat. It has the stock mopar rims on it with radial tires. I do have a set of steel rims with the dog dish hub caps that go with the car if you want that look, no tires on the rims.
The car is in nice original condition, I had it documented by Galen Govier and with the options it has, it was the only one like it on his list. That year, 1968, Dodge only built approx. 990 big block darts and not many had a 4spd. as far as I can find out. I am located about 90 miles west of Detroit, MI off I-96 near Williamston, MI outside of Lansing, Mi. You can come and look and hear the car run and drive it if you wish.
I have the car listed locally and reserve the right to sell it anytime. The car has to be paid for in full before it leaves my barn. I will accept cash, money transfer or check, but the check must clear the bank before the car leaves. I can hold the car for a short time if it helps out. The car is sold as is. It is the buyers responsibility to arrange and pay for the shipping. I can help on the day the vehicle is picked up with getting on the transport. Please feel free to ask any and all questions you may have, just send me an e-mail. Thanks and good luck bidding..
