Description
I hate to let her go but it's necessary to finance another project. Up for bid is my 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger. Originally a 318 car with a 904 automatic in B5 Blue with B7 Blue interior and black vinyl top, the car is still B5 Blue, but has a white vinyl top and white "340" stripe. The upper door frames are also B5 Blue but much of the interior remains original to the car. The headrests were added. The car now has a 340 engine stroked to 416ci, Edelbrock aluminum heads with headers and a 3 inch exhaust through two chamber flowmasters turned down just in front of the rear axle. It has a 904 transmission with a regular shift pattern and 8 1/4" rear end with a 3.91 gear. The engine is tied to the K frame with a Schumacher tie down strut. The car also has subframe connectors welded in place. The car has power brakes with front disc brakes and a vacuum pump tucked under the battery tray to assist, power steering, and twin electric fans coupled to the 26", 3 row aluminum radiator. The engine is fed by a Carter electric fuel pump through a regulator. The carburetor is a Quick Fuel, 850cfm 4bbl with no chokeit starts and runs just fine. The wheels are Summit "Weld knockoffs" and 5 on 4 1/2" bolt pattern all the way around. It has drag racing shock absorbers and Super Stock rear springs. Mileage shows 42k and change but I can't say that is original, so I won't. The car originated in Ohio from what the previous owner told me.
Particulars aside, let me tell you about this car. This is a very cool, nice looking, DRIVER QUALITY carmeaning that it isn't without scratches or a chip in the paint here or there. That said, it draws alot of attention at the local cruise-ins on the color combo alone. Now, fire the car upit's loud, obnoxious lope turns even more heads. The car is by no means quiet. It's also way, way too powerful for the max width drag radial that fits in the factory wheel wells. I've had this car out to the track once. First pass was 12.41 at 112mph with a full tank of gas, XL amateur driver, and 180lbs of tube sand in the trunk. It's been tuned better since, but has never been back on the track. I'm sure it's capable of better now, especially with a better driver. If you think you can just jump in this car and stomp on it, you're probably going to hurt yourself and wreck the car. It is strong and has lots of low end power, maybe too much. It's never had slicks on it as that would probably break the rear end (8 1/4") in an instant. Speaking of that rear end, you will hear gear noise from time to time. The car goes down the road straight and actually cruises nicely, steers extremely easy, and stops well. I apologize for the upside down pic of the inner right rear quarter. If I get a chance, I'll redo the pic.
Again, the only reason for selling is to finance another project. Also, I'm not a flipper, hustler, or some shady dealer. If you buy the car here, come to pick it up and it's not what you feel was represented here, you are welcome to your full deposit in return and can simply go on your way. That said, I do not intend to negotiate outside of this auction. Arrangements can be made to view the car and/or altered to pick it up. There is no warranty implied or otherwise with the purchase of this car. I will do all I can to answer any questions you may have as quickly as possible. The buyer of this car is getting a strong, cool looking driver. Good luck!
