Description
1992
Dodge Daytona Iroc Shelby, 2.5 turbo, 5 speed. Low 94K original
miles.
I have used this Daytona for my daily driver for the last 3 years. Its always ran great and has gottengreat gas mileage. Its one of the rare ( less than 230) Iroc Daytona's that had the 2.5 turbo motor.
It was fully loaded when new with red leather interior, air conditioning, power windows and door locks, power seat, fog lights, cruise control, tilt wheel, am/fm cd, rear window wiper and defroster, and aluminum 16” pumper style wheels. It also has a key-less entry system with 2 remotes.
Here are excerpts from Wikipedia on the rarity of this particular Daytona-
Optional on the 1992 IROC was the 2.5l "High Torque" Turbo, available as a very rare option (less than 230 produced). Although the Shelby trim was discontinued in 1991 (due to the end of Shelby's involvement with Chrysler), a small number of Irocs were produced bearing the Shelby name. These Irocs featured "Shelby" decals, and were all 2.5 Turbo cars, as they featured the Shelby Performance Package sales code. These rare Shelby versions were mainly "Chrysler" branded Daytonas, and were part of an early run of Irocs. These were the last production vehicles produced by Chrysler Corp to bear the Shelby name.
The following items have been replaced within the last 5000 miles-
-new timing belt
-new a/c ,ps belts
-new clutch assembly
-new Monroe struts/shocks
-new window regulators
-Front brake pads
Modifications to the car are a front mount intercooler, billet BOV, running 9-10# of boost, 1 coil was cut off each spring to lower the car slightly, tinted windows (20%), and newer Pioneer detachable face am/fm cd player.
The car has been my daily driver for 3 years and has been very reliable. Its is not in perfect condition however, and is priced accordingly. Here is a listing of known faults-
-drivers seat needs a cover or reupholstered
-drivers power window rolls up slowly
-left turn signal doesn't always work unless you press up on the bottom of the switch
-tires are about 70% worn
-IROC decals have been removed, new ones are available
-drivers door/rear panel needs to be painted
-paint clear coat is starting to peel on top surface area of car
Overall, its a good running and rare car that needs some cosmetic work It would make someone a good daily driver, or if someone wanted to fix it up it would be a unique and rare performance car, one of the last Chrysler made products to bear the Shelby name.
Please let me know if you have any questions about the car.
