Description
1971 Dodge D100 Sweptline, Northern California truck it's entire life. Sold new at Westlake Dodge in Daly City, CA on 1/9/1971. Clear California title in my name, currently registered and insured.
I drive this around town, on the freeway and it's a blast. It's really fast and fun to drive. I had planned on installing an overdrive transmission and a Gerst IFS for this truck but I have other financial priorities at this time.
Originally a 318 it now has a 440 (block # 2536480 date code 1/16/1970
I don't have the cam specs, etc., but it does have a double roller timing chain, windage tray, stock iron heads and rockers, Carter 625 CFM carb. Exhaust manifolds are cast iron. I'm running Royal Purple oil 10W30
3 speed 727 trans, has a shift kit but it's not too harsh. I'm using Type F fluid. I had switched to Dextron III but it was too sluggish and went back to Type F
Dual exhaust has glass packs that exit in front of the rear wheels. It's kind of loud but sounds good.
Entire brake system was gone thru back in November 2010. New master cylinder, brake booster, wheel cylinders, shoes, spring kit.
Additional springs added to the rear, 3 on each side, so it's more like a 3/4 ton. This was done back in April 2011. Rancho Shocks were installed February 2011. The tires are Big O brand, 31 x 10.5 x 15. They look brand new but have very minor dry cracks in the inside sidewall. They hold air great, no leaks, just so you know.
Interior: Very clean, bench seat looks brand new. Dash has a couple of cracks, sun visors are intact and clean. Lights, turn signals, wipers work. Fuel gas works up to 3/4 tank. Radio does not work.
Blower/defrost work. Just about 99% rust free, one small spot on lower passenger door near trim. Inside engine compartment is the stock bumper jack assembly, road side reflector box with reflectors.
Body: Let me just say that you're going to repaint this truck, you'll be way ahead in time and money because this is about 99% rust free and very straight, no bondo truck.
Paint is faded but to some this is all you need, no worry about rock chips and scratches on new paint. There is one small spot on lower passenger door near trim that you can see in the pictures. The rockers and door jambs are solid. Floor pans are solid. It was sealed with some rust inhibitor years ago. There are holes on top of the bed rails from the camper shell.
The windshield gasket needs replacing. There is a small star chip in the windshield in the drivers side.
The camper shell will be sold with the truck but I took it off so you can see the bed.
I installed a new trailer hitch (bolted in, not welded).
This truck has the hard to find rear bumper.
It has 31x10.5 tires on 15x8 Cragars S/S wheels on all 4, but I swapped the fronts with 235/70/15 steel wheels on new Firestone Indy 500 tires. Easier to steer with manual steering. Power drum brakes up front. You get Indy 500 tires for free! A lot of people want these for some reason. Contact me for any more details.
It has always run great but earlier this year I wanted to take care of small leaks, repairs and maintenance all at one time. Not knowing when anything had been last been replaced I decided to start from scratch. Not to speak badly of the previous owner, but there were some subpar repairs that had been done.
You may find cheaper Dodge trucks out there but you're going to have to put a lot more time and money into it to get it this far.
