Description
1978 Dodge W150 regular cab long bed full time four wheel drive. Clean and clear Oklahoma title in my name.
Exterior:
Paint is original and was just buffed but has minor dings from years of use. The front driver fender has been changed some time during its life. It is also red and an original fender but is a different shade of red than the rest of the truck. The bull bar has surface rust but is hella stout so I cannot justify taking it off just for looks. The truck has little rust with one major cancer spot on the passenger door as seen in the pictures. Both the passenger and driver side floors have some pin holes creating a soft spot. The rear trim was put back on the truck with screws by a previous owner. The screws are black and blend in but are not correct. Overall the truck is in great shape with three areas of rust and has a great look. The bed is in excellent shape with solid wheel wells, bed floor and tailgate. The Goodyear 31/10.5/15 tires are on original wagon wheel rims with extra wide chrome trim rings and still have lots of tread. These are the stock rims and trim rings special ordered with the truck.
Interior:
The interior has been dyed the original red and looks good. The seat has a seam that has split so I put a seat cover over it. The seat is very comfy and the red saddle blanket fits the truck very well. The original floor covering is in good shape but is drying out after 37 years. All of the gauges work but the Speedo is off due to the larger tires. The aftermarket cd player works as it should with a remote that also works. I believe the door speakers are 6" and there is an 8" sub behind the seat. All lights work to include the interior light when the doors are opened. There is an aftermarket tack and mechanical oil pressure gauge that has been added. I put in new weather stripping around the doors that made a huge difference in the road noise in the cab. The window felts have also been changed but one did not fit correctly and has not been replaced. I took the gauge cluster out, cleaned and lubed everything and changed all of the lights out with new bulbs. All gauges are accurate and work as they should.
Drive train:
The original 360 was removed by one of the previous owners and replaced with a 318 2bbl. The motor runs fine but leaks some oil from the cheap chrome valve covers and another place at the back of the engine. The truck has never come close to overheating even in bumper to bumper traffic during the Oklahoma summer. The power steering box also leaks at the input shaft.
The transmission has been rebuilt and has less than 500 miles on it. It is a 3 speed automatic 727 with a new torque converter.
The NP203 all time 4 wheel drive transfer case was cleaned off and had the oil changed when the tranny was rebuilt. The NP203 is considered the strongest chain transfer case built as the chain is wider than any other.
The front dana 44 works as it should as does the rear Chrysler 9.25 rear. The truck has 3.23 gears and will to 75 down the highway with no. The brakes have been gone through and work as they should. I replaced the front rubber hoses for the brakes.
The front drive shaft was rebuilt within the last year as the CV started going out.
The truck has always treated me well to include starting after sitting for 3 weeks. It is daily driver reliable! I drive it to work once every week or so with a commute of 50 miles round trip. I have used it to help clean up my mom's place that is almost 2 hours away cruising at 75 the whole way there and back.
Call with questions or better yet come and see it. For sale locally. Once reserve is met I will not pull the auction.
