------------------ ABOUT THE CAR ----------------------
You are bidding on a RARE 1966 Polara 500 Convertible project car.
Was stored indoors from 1989 until last Fall.
VIN# DL27G6320xxxx
It is one of 2,472 convertibles built in 1966 , and originally would have had a 383 big block engine and a 727 automatic transmission. The 8-3/4" rear end and driveshaft are still with the car. It is rare because it was a 500 model, not the basic Polara and had a big block and lots of nice options. The original colour was a burgundy with white and black interior, bucket seats and center console. Would have been a beautiful car in it's day. I had intentions to restore the car when I bought it, but have moved on to other B-Body projects now and have lost interest in working on the Polara. It got moved out of the garage last winter for the first time since about 1989. I don't want to see it rot into the ground, so if it does not sell to a good home soon I will strip off the valuable parts and parts I can use on another car then crush the remains. I sincerely hope that it will find a home in someone's garage to be restored.
I have a clean title for the car.
The car is essentially a mostly complete rolling shell needing a TOTAL RESTORATION.
** There is NO Engine or Transmission with this car! ** There was not one with the car when I got it.
The driveshaft is included with the car however.
It came with the following options:
- Power Windows
- Power Brakes
- Power Steering
- Tilt and Telescopic steering wheel/column
Interior:
Included are all the parts that I have for the car, 90% or more of which belong to this specific car. Bucket seats are there, one has been reupholstered. Rear bench seat frame is complete, but lower have is total stripped - expect to recover the whole set of seats really Carpet has been ripped up and discarded, but otherwise pretty well all the parts are there and bagged or boxed up.
Body:
Overall compete and relatively solid car. Missing the rear fender skirts. Front clip (fenders, inner fenders, etc) appear to have been taken from other cars at some point as the fender tag under the hood attached to the drivers side inner fender is from a 4 door sedan. The front clip is in pretty good shape I must say, so looks like they combined the best of what they had on hand back in the 70's or 80's when it was last repainted. Needs work on rear wheel lips and lower quarters as well as the lower edge of the trunk lid is rotted and will need repairs or replacement. Some work to rockers needed. Front fenders appear to be good. Hood has some old body fill and paint peeling. Drivers door has minor rust in front corner, otherwise appears solid. Passengers door looks pretty solid but has large dent in it that should come out with relative ease. Front sub-frame is complete and appears solid, inner fenders are good. Rear sub-frames look good. Spring mounts are ok. Firewall is good. Front foot well areas of floor pans have small holes, rear foot well area of floor pans have been repaired crudely with flat steel sheet. Trunk floor appears solid, gas tank is still in place.
Mechanical:
Condition of mechanical parts internally is unknown, from what I can see it appears to be in original untouched condition. Has an 8-3/4" rear end, power steering box and lines (as shown in photos), complete power brake system and suspension is all still all in place on the car. Car has drum brakes all round, with a power brake booster.
Convertible Top:
Top is ripped and needs to be replaced. I when I put power to the car the top sounded like it would open, but I did not risk opening it and then possibly not be able to close it.
Warranty: NONE
I have done the best to describe the car, but please review all the photos in detail. I cannot accept a return of this car as I have no where to store it! Sold totally AS-IS and WHERE-IS.
No Warranty is expressed or implied of any kind.
