NO RESERVE AUCTION
Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a very special find, a 1985 Dodge Ram D350 crew cab dually equipped with every option available. This truck is particularly noteworthy because this is quite possibly the only Dodge Ram D350 with the 165' wheelbase crew cab long bed dually with these options ordered in 1985. Flashback to the mid 80s this would of been the most expensive vehicle you could buy within the Dodge lineup as well as the entire Chrysler lineup. This truck was a special factory order out southern California (largest automobile market in the world) as a promotional vehicle for the Chrysler Motor Company as an effort to promote heavy duty trucks to build momentum for the upcoming arrival of the Cummins Diesel option which was being fitted into prototype trucks in that same year. Every option box was checked in an effort to demonstrate the best a Dodge could get, and if you see in the 1985 Dodge truck brochure the very truck is also profiled. This truck is a 1985, built in November of 1984 but due to its promotional duties it was not sold until the end of 1986 and first titled in 1987 to its first owner in beautiful Camarillo, CA in Ventura county. Fast forward 35 years and this truck is truly a survivor worth preserving for the sake of historical Dodge trucks. This truck still has the original small style "pink slip" when they were still pink also demonstrating this truck has never been retitled. The original two tone Golden Brown Metallic over Cream paint was ONLY available with the Prospector trim package, along with the painted grille and Prospector emblems with the gold inlayed paint. There are certain trucks that everyone can respect for the originality and rareness factor, whether you're a Dodge, Chevy or Ford person this is one of those trucks. This truck has never been restored, everything is 100% American made and assembled when Ronald Reagan was president. Anybody can restore a truck to original specs but to find an original example like this cannot be duplicated. This is diamond you can build a collection around.
Cosmetically this Mopar is a survivor in exceptional condition. The body is straight with no dents, the rockers and floors are exceptionally solid with no rust. The original Golden Brown Metallic over Cream paint is great shape for being over 3 decades old. It looks and shines great but as expected after 36 years its not perfect there is an original patina with some shallow spots as well as little corrosion on the passenger side drip rail. It is important to note two tone Golden Brown Metallic over Cream was only available for the Prospector package. A Prospector also included a painted and polished grille, bumperettes, polished tailgate and the very cool "Prospector" emblems with a pick and axe painted gold. Other cool features are the original western trailer mirrors as well as the original Chrysler cab lights only see on 1 ton Dodge trucks. There is no cheap Asian aftermarket parts all the emblems and trim are original. There is still factory chalk marks on the frame.
Step inside this spacious Ram and you will find much of the same originality and uniqueness only seen on a crew cab Dodge. For example the Royal SE Decor package included the fancier door panels and dash with faux wood and pull straps. However because these trucks were so rare Dodge didn't even build rear door panels to match nor did they engineer power to the rear doors. So, by design this truck has power windows and doors only in the front. The dash of this truck is in phenomenal condition with no cracks or fade. The wood is vibrant and the gauge cluster is reminiscent of the R/T cluster of some iconic mopars from the early 70s. The truck is equipped with every option available from factory A/C, Deluxe heater, intermittent wipers, AM/FM with a Cassette, Power windows and locks, sliding rear window. The only option not available is cruise control and that because this truck is a 4 speed where cruise was not available. By design manual vehicles with 3 pedals get more wear then comparable automatic vehicles, the pedals in this truck are in great shape a testament to the low mileage and limited use over the last 36 years. Everything is functional and good working order.
Mechanically this truck is about as heavy duty as you could get in 1985. The 5.9 liter 360cid 4BBL V8 motor was the largest and most powerful option available in 1985. It fires up easy and runs fantastic.(Selling a Vehicle? Create Professional Listings Fast and Easy.
