Description

The official car of "hey, my friend had one of these in high school!"
A real Radwood survivor - unrestored, just living its best life. It's been my daily driver for about a year, and I've loved driving it. The V6 is surprisingly strong for a car from 1992 - it's only about 140 horsepower, but it's a torquey good time, even with the automatic. It drives as good as it did when it was new in '92, which isn't the highest praise in the world, but it's been trouble-free and smooth for me. It's been a California car all its life, so it's rust-free.
Start up and driving video here:style="color:rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family:"Bitstream Vera Serif", "Times New Roman", serif; font-size:medium; font-style:normal; font-variant-ligatures:normal; font-variant-caps:normal; font-weight:400; letter-spacing:normal; orphans:2; text-align:start; text-indent:0px; text-transform:none; white-space:normal; word-spacing:0px; background-color:rgb(255, 255, 255); text-decoration-style:initial; text-decoration-color:initial;">
Everything is bone stock original, down to the floor mats. The original Emerald Green paint is showing its age. The hood has the worst of it, with the clearcoat giving up the ghost, and the trunk is starting to fade as well.
The car comes with a set of brand new factory replica SHADOW tape stripes that I intended to use after bringing the paint back to life. The factory stickers on the sides look good, but the V6 sticker on the hood bulge is nearly gone. A new replacement for that is also included.
What I'd fix and in what order, if I were keeping the Shadow:
• The passenger window does not go down. I think it's the switch, not the motor, because it doesn't even make a sound, much less move. But it could be either problem.
• I'd refresh the paint, either with a buffing and new clearcoat, or a whole paint job. Personally I like daily driver survivors better than show cars, so I wouldn't repaint it. But that's up to personal preference.
• The headliner on the windshield (is it still headliner if it's a convertible?) has come away from the trim, and should be repaired.
• There are two rips in the convertible top (see photos). Dodge had the Shadow convertibles done by a third party, and in my honest opinion the tops just suck. Pain in the butt to fold back, and you have to manually attach the cover once you do. For a daily driver, I’d tape it up, but you can replace the top if you want to restore the car to show quality.
• There’s a dent in the front left quarter panel that’s too subtle for me to worry about, but I’d pop it out if I were really shining it up.
• The A/C doesn’t work. I’ve never bothered to find out why.
What’s awesome:
• It’s a time machine to 1992, reliable and fun
• Everyone wants to talk to you about the one they had in high school just like it
• It’s a cheap entry pass to Radwood and popular at every Cars & Coffee
• The tape deck works, so you can blast Triumph at the stop light and embarrass your friends
