Description

1979 308 GTB - VIN 27883 - rare full European spec car with the dry sump engine configuration. European bumpers, etc. The car is approximately 370 lbs. lighter than a US version 308 GTB and 530 lbs. lighter than a US GTBi with at least 60 more hp. Complete engine and mechanical rebuild, including high compression pistons (10.5:1), by ex-Norwood Autocraft mechanic completed in January, 2014. New paint from bare metal, Azzuro Blue, the original color, with new tan hides on seats and door panels and new dark blue carpets, original vinyl dash, armrests and console. Replaced the very low hanging euro front spoiler with regular 308 spoiler as the euro spoiler was just too low, could not even get in and out of a driveway without it scraping the pavement. Original 14" wheels that have been cleaned, bead blasted and powder coated. I am the third owner as the car was imported from Belgium, stored in Michigan and rarely, if ever, driven by that owner and I have owned it for 17 years. The car had approximately 42,000 km (25,200 miles) when I purchased it in 1997 and now has 137,000 km (82,000 miles) with only 3,500 km (2,100 miles) since the completion of the mechanical and cosmetic rebuild. The car is fresh and extremely quick. The car is rather rare with its racing style lubrication system (dry sump), with 4 Webber 2 barrel carburetors and DOHC. No emission controls. catalytic converters, air pumps, etc. If it did not make the car faster and improve the performance, Ferrari did not add it to the car. This is the last of the sports racing cars in the Enzo Ferrari tradition.
