Description

Up for auction is my 1980 BB512 with Koenig engine upgrades which were performed when the car was new and first imported new into Canada, Vancouver to be exact. It was then sent to Laguna Seca in 1980 and had the upgrades performed which included the Momo Gilles Villeneuve signature series steering wheel, the Blaupunkt Berlin goose neck radio, 5 point racing belts, recaro Ideal C seats, Gold BBS wheels and many engine upgrades. The engine upgrades include koenig cams, 36mm chokes, booster venturis, jetting, velocity stacks with tea strainers, koenig mufflers and the air intake scoops as seen with windows showing off the stacks.

When I purchased the car it no longer had the BBS wheels but it had correct cromodoras instead and the date codes are correct for the model year. They are believed to be the original rims, I was told they are and I believe it to be true. I removed and sold the recaro seats and installed a pair of used boxer seats as well as original seat belts. The rest of the period mods remain as they were from 1980.
The car is a rocket with the engine mods, the fastest boxer Ive driven. Ive driven it and my Testarossa back to back many times and it eats the testarossa at any speed not to mention the incredible sound!

Prior to driving the car I performed an engine out service as well as head gaskets so I could inspect the engine internally and prevent any leaks in the near future. I was also able to see for myself that the car is indeed a low kms car from what the inside of the engine and gearbox looked like. It was showing 8200kms on the odometer when I purchased the car. I was able to contact 3 previous owners who's info I will pass onto the buyer, they were able to recall the mileage allowing me to be certain the odometer is correct. It now has just over 12000kms on it from my ownership. Some of the details on the car do indicate low kms which matters to some and not to others, take it for what its worth.

Unfortunately like many low mileage cars it wasn't stored properly in the past so the paint has suffered showing plenty of patina. Most buyers will want to paint the car, many wont and I debated it myself as well but decided against it. I soon preferred it as it is because the odd scratch or dent and the checked paint tells a story. The car has character and Ive been told by many to leave it alone, not to paint the car. Im glad I didn't. Im in the business and currently restoring 3 boxers for clients so I have the means to make this a platinum car but decided to enjoy it. The thing is its so much fun to drive as is and not worry about getting a stone chip or needing to detail the suspension with a q-tip after a drive or to keep the judges happy.

What was important to me as a buyer at the time (and it should be to anyone buying a boxer) was it retained the original windshield with antenna and tire decal, correct fuel pumps with BCD decals, never DOT converted, never hit, carello fog lights, correct rims, spinners, hood pad and spare tire all of which are either NLA long ago or very expensive if you can find the items. This car has them and you cant restore the correct part if you dont have it to restore in the first place. Its an honest car with known history and enthusiast / boxer fanatic owned. All suspension bushings are original with factory paint markings and correct hardware throughout. Its a great reference for what a boxer was like in the details which makes it easy to know what was what if the car is ever to be restored.

I have my own restoration shop that specializes in Boxer restorations so I can offer any service or advice a potential buyer might be interested in.

Im a long time Ferrarichat member (since 2001) and my user name is Newman. This is my personal boxer. You can opt for an independent PPI or you can ask me for my opinion and Ill tell it like it is, Ill answer any questions and provide any additional photos. Im not interested in damaging my reputation in the business or steering anyone wrong.
Pictures 9-12 are of when I first received the car. You can see the koenig part number on the cam, the taller booster venturis and the ideal C seats the car once had.
