Description
1981 Fiat Spider 2000 Fuel Injected. THE GOOD: It's Italian I bought it at an estate auction where it sat for 10 years inside a garage (in Florida) as part of a collection, and driven only occasionally. I spent several months making sure it was mechanically sound. I replaced the valve cover gaskets, resonator, muffler and connection pipe, fuel line & filter, and upper control arm. Brand new front and rear seats, carpet (Dynamat under carpet) and new top. I also installed a 4-speaker CD/stereo. And I dropped the transmission and replaced the 5th gear and reverse shift rod and T/O bearing with original Fiat parts, and put in a new clutch and pressure plate. I had the original Fiat Spider wheels heated and straightened, then powder coated to the original color. (These original wheels are getting hard to find) There is about 60% tread remaining on the tires. It corners like it is on rails
THE BAD: It has been repainted at least once, and there are a few nicks and dings. There is also a slight crease in the passenger door. However, there is very little rust. What rust I did find I repaired, but the touch up paint I used was 2-stage, and I think the car was painted with single stage so it is not the best match. There is also a 3" crack in the dash pad. This car is a great daily driver, but with a little body work and paint it would be a show car. Vin #124CS000178965.
