Description
This 1976 Fiat 124 Spider is finished in its original paint of Medium Blue (Fiat Paint Code 14814) with a black convertible top and tan interior and is powered by a twin-cam 1.8L inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The car was acquired by me in 2019 and subsequently serviced with a new starter, radiator, electronic ignition, brake master cylinder, interior carpet, ANSA performance exhaust, fuel lines, resurfaced rotors, brake pads, and tires. This 124 Spider is offered at no reserve with a matching top boot, service records, and a clean Texas title with current mileage of 95,064. I have been working on the mechanical reliability on this project and it is time for new body work and paint – unfortunately I have run out of time and money to finish.
The car has North American impact bumpers with rubber trim with very little rust on the body. The only rust is on the passenger side rocker panel, which I will include a replacement in the auction. There are rust spots and cracked paint that have been mitigated with sanding and primer on the trunk lid, front left fender, hood, and the back left.
13″ alloy wheels are included – apparently they are fairly rare and were manufactured by a company in Corona, CA in the 70’s. Multiple members of the local Fiat club have offered to purchase them from me. 175/70/13Barum Brillantis 2 tires that were mounted in November 2029. Installed equipment included a front and rear sway bar as well as power-assisted disc brakes at all four corners. A replacement brake master cylinder was installed in late 2018.
The cockpit features tan upholstery on the seats and door panels along with tan carpet, woodgrain accents, and a black center console. The carpet was installed new in November 2020. The dashboard is black and cracked and is covered with an aftermarket black carpet cover. Standard Equipment includes a heater and a locking glovebox. The seatbelts and horn were installed in preparation for the sale.
An OE steering wheel frames a 140-mphspeedometer, a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, a clock, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The tachometer and fuel gauge tend to function intermittently. The five-digit odometer shows 95k miles, approximately180 of which were added under current ownership.
The 1.8-liter inline-four is equipped with dual overhead camshafts and a Weber 38 DGS Carburetor with chrome free flow air cleaner. There is a small engine oil leak towards the rear of the passenger side of the engine when running like all fine Italian sports car (this is a common bug on this Fiat DOHC engine). Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission that shifts smoothly. A straight pipe exhaust and ANSA performance muffler were installed in 2021. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery and a video of the car starting and running can be found here:style="">
