Description
FIAT 2300 DELUXE STATION WAGON 1964
Barn Find, been stored for about 10 years in dry garage
We pulled the Fiat out of the garage, cleaned it up a bit, checked the oil and water, added new fuel, cleaned the plugs and points, put in a battery and started the engine very easily. Runs really well and is quiet, and has excellent oil pressure as can be seen in the photos.
Chassis Number: 114B.108 112166. Engine number: 114B.000 062626, this is the original engine.
The interior is in remarkable condition, great upholstery and carpets, etc. The top of the dash is not cracked at all, the floor in the rear luggage area is excellent, hood lining looks great. There are a few minor blemishes inside, like a crack in the plastic trim behind one front seat and the 2 plastic trims at the A pillar need replacing. Several of the toggle switches are not functioning but the instruments all work. The ignition switch has been replaced at some stage and let in to the dash. The dash pad requires screwing down in place.
Externally there is rust in the rear guards along the edges and it needs a new upper tail gate which is rusted out, the lower tail gate is OK, but the beaver panel needs rust repair as well, the rest of the body is looking very solid. There are no dents, never had accident damage, a very straight vehicle.
The underneath is looking really good, no rust in sills or floor panel, etc.
Had a new exhaust system fitted before it was taken off the road, also had a new clutch, new whitewall tyres, rebuilt starter motor, rebuilt radiator, brakes were all rebuilt but will definitely need to be done again. The clutch hydraulic master and slave cylinders were re-sleeved at the time. Tie rod ends were replaced.
All the glass is in good condition, the windows all wind down and the rear quarter lights open as they should, the bumper bars are both in fairly good condition and the front over-riders are very good. Grille looks OK. The doors all close with typical solid feel, the locks all work, keys unlock doors correctly.
The lights all work but the reflectors need replacing or replating, one tail light has a broken lens but I have a spare to go with the vehicle. The town and country (Air Horns) horns are all working OK, switched between each type, there is a Foredit washer bag in place.
Originally registered by the Queensland Distributors, Dominion Motors, for use as their Sales Manager’s vehicle. When the manager retired he kept this vehicle and took it with him when he moved to Tasmania, it has now been back in Queensland for 10 years after having spent 3 years in Western Australia.
There have only been 3 owners since the Dominion Motors manager. The second owner has stated that the mileage on the speedo was correct when he sold it to the man in WA, at around 54000 miles and it now shows 59930.
