Description
Up for sale is an original 1932 Ford 5 Window coupe. It is all real henry steel. This is the ultimate 60's hot rod. The car originally came out of Youngstown, Oh. The original builder had just returned from the Vietnam War in the late 60's, and as soon as he set foot on American soil, he was on the hunt for a coupe to build. He started with a really clean original body. He first chopped the top, looks to be about a 3 or 4" chop. Supposedly all the metal work was leaded in on the chop. Looks like a pretty decent chop. Then he decided to go the full east coast custom route and channeled the body over the entire frame. The frame actually sits inside the subrails, its that low. The original subrails are still there from the front cowl all the way back to the rear wheel openings. The body looks to be in decent shape. The cowl vent was filled, the original drip rails look good, and the original soft top remains. The original firewall was replaced with a piece of polished aluminum . The floor is obviously all modified, but nothing that couldn't be undone. Looks like a wood floor with metal bracing supporting most of the floor. On the inside is a black tuck and roll interior. A custom bench seat sits directly on the floor, and 3 of the original 5 garnish moldings are there. The rear quarter windows are missing. There is no glass in the doors. The original dash is filled with mismatched gauges, Sun and Stewart Warners. Looks like an F1 steering box, and an 8 track stereo behind the seat. I have not really noticed any patch panels in the car. Looks like the cowl and quarters are decent, hard to tell. The chassis on the coupe started with the original frame. It was bobbed in the rear to be tucked up in the body. It has the original front crossmember, with what looks like a Dago dropped axel. Split wishbones and 40 ford brakes finish the front up. In the back is a 57 Chevy rear end, with coil springs, ladder bars, and a panhard bar. The chassis is riding on 4 Cragar S/S wheels. The original engine blew up in the late 70's, so after sitting for a while the owner, back in 2009, decided to re-build the engine. Over 5k was spent on the engine. It features, Offenhauser 2X4 intake with ABF carbs, Comp Cams, Hydraulic lifters, MSD ignition, and new cast iron heads from Summit. Everything is new in the engine, rods, rings , gaskets, pumps, ect. Behind the engine sits a aluminum case Muncie 4 speed with a Hurst shifter. Overall this is a very period correct hot rod straight out of the 60's. With the '76 Chrysler green paint and some Cragar S/S's, you just cant get more retro than that. Check out the pictures and give me a call with questions. If your 6'3", you might want to rethink this car. You really need to check it out in person. Right now, the car is running and will drive, it has a leak in the front wheel cylinder, and I will have it replaced before it leaves. So it will drive and is able to be loaded on a trailer for transport. The car is being sold as is. Ask all questions first. I would definately have a mechanic go over the entire car before driving it, just to be safe. It is build on 1970's technology, so it is what it is ! Also comes with a good Ohio Title.
