Description
Same car as the U12 Nissan Pintara
240000km, last 100000 with same owner (since 2000)
2.0L EFI (twinspark, actually) 5spd Manual
Air Con (which works well)
Power steering
Towbar w/removable lip
Rego til August 2016, and likely nothing to spend for a pink slip then (tyres, brakes etc. have plenty of life left, no obvious rust, no major fluid leaks*)
Fitted with Walker extractors (12ish years ago, when the factory cast manifold cracked).
I suspect it has the factory "Rough Road" handling pack (really smooth on poor country roads).
Nearly every suspension bush has been replaced with Nolathane over the years, impresses the tyre shop guys every time.
Recently had new driveshafts fitted, clutch was done about 2 years/10000km ago, only time we've done either in 15 years.
The headlining started to sag last year, so we replaced it completely: should last another 2 decades at least.
Has been serviced twice in the last 3000km, cos the my father never leaves it too long, even if it hasn't driven far.
We fitted a plush Pintara TRX sports driver's seat with lumbar and height adjust when I managed to break a bit off the original a decade ago and a whole seat was $20 at the wreckers: decent upgrade for long trips!
Has a few dints and scrapes, but nothing obvious from far away.
It fits an bicycle, complete, in the boot with the seats down, so although it looks like a big hatchback you can nearly fill it like a wagon.
It can also tow small trailers pretty well: we've moved house with a double axle box trailer and I've taken motorbikes to the track with it.
Bad stuff:
*It weeps oil very slowly from the camshaft seal. Has been like this for about 15 years.
It only has a tape deck and the speakers in the doors occasionally crackle (though recently they haven't been), so byo epic sound system
Someone tried to jimmy the passenger door lock before we owned it: we never replaced it but you can only lock/unlock the door from inside (which works fine, just can't use the key)
I'm selling it for my dad (retirement present to himself was a newish corolla), who would've liked me to have it, and I'm loath to sell it, but even though it's a great car I really don't need it. It would make an excellent car for long trips, we loved driving it to the Snowy, up the coast or to Melbourne and Canberra. This car has been well treated and pretty fastidiously looked after: our mechanic has told my dad he shouldn't service it as regularly as he does, but the old man can't let it go 6 months without an oil change :) It's broken down twice since he's owned it: worn out distributor both times, a $40 part, so "reliable car" is an understatement.
