Description

1967 Ford Country Sedan

What we have here is a true survivor, kept in a garage its whole life. While in the estate sale business my wife meet with Mr Turney to do his sale and the wagon was in his garage. This car is complete with its original Wimbledon White paint, chrome, glass, (except new windshield) trim, and interior;it s a time capsule and its loaded. Most people think we restored it, it looks so nice. One exception to the window sticker, yes, we have the original window sticker, (see photos) is the small hub caps, he had the dealer remove the full wheel covers when he bought the car (he thought someone would just steal the full wheel covers) so he had them installed the small hub caps. He told us this story while we were removing the car from the garage. The car now has reproduction full wheel covers, the original dog dish also come with the car. It had been parked in the garage, since he bought a new Volvo in October 1997, or about 13 years, without leaving. (see photos of how it was found in his garage, used as a storage shed). The wagon was bought new at Mesilla Motor Co in Las Cruces, New Mexico on April 17 1967. The owner, Mr. Turney, lived in Alamogordo, New Mexico, later moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where it is now.
This is a survivor that was kept in a garage its whole life.
When we got the car it did not run or stop,(photos of it on the flatbed coming home)the carburetor was dried up and wheel cylinders leaking. So, in 2010 to make it drive-able and safe I installed a Master Power disc brake kit, booster, master cylinder, proportioning valve, rotors, calipers and spindles on the front. New wheel cylinders, springs, hardware, and shoes on the rear.Cleaned the gas tank and had a new muffler installed. All soft fuel lines are new-Good Year with the blue liner. New fuel pump. New Edelbrock 500 CFM carb. The original carb, choke tubes & hard gas line come with the car.New Pertronix Ignitor II, Flamethrower II Coil & Flamethrower plug wires. New vacuum advance and new spark plugs. New water pump, new fan clutch, alternator, timing chain & gears.New black A/C compressor with factory Ford tag from original install. Radiator cleaned and checked.New vacuum controlled heater valve. All new hoses, vacuum lines & belts.New pressure power steering hose.New battery.Four new powder coated 15 X 7 factory style wheels from Wheel Vintiques. Four new WW tires. A pair of new Sears air shocks came with the car and have been installed on the rear. All the vacuum motors for the A/C & heater/defroster work. The dash pad is not cracked and the steering wheel is a beauty.Everything in the interior looks almost new. All hood, doors & tail gate hinges are tight, as you can see by the pictures he kept them well oiled over the years.
We are the second & fifth owner's of this car. Two of our friend's have also owned and enjoyed cruising around to car events for the last seven years, as we have.In other words we sold it to two friends and bought it back. Its our time now to pass it on again. One of the remarkable things that comes with this car is its log book. With the book, you can give me a date between the time the original owner bought the car new on April 17 1967 till we purchased it, less than 3000 miles ago, and I can tell you where it was on that date. Not only did he write down every time he bought gas, price & gallons, he also wrote where he was, how neat is that? (see photos of log book)It has a documented history.
As you can see by the pictures the things that usually deteriorate in the interior are like new. The pictures showing the bottom of the car show how clean it is. The bottom has never been cleaned.
Its a 390 4V, 355 HP, Thunderbird Engine, optioned with: Cruise-O-Matic, Courtesy Light Group, Luggage Rack, Body Side Moldings, Power Tailgate Window, Magic Door Gate ( two way ), Power Steering, Select air Conditioner, AM Radio, Tinted Windshield, Deluxe Seat Belts, Remote Control Left Mirror. Lots of paper work to pass on, window sticker, salesmen write up sheet, two plastic warranty identification cards, emergency ( HELP ) foldout for in the window, everything that came with the car.
It has a period correct Kelsey Hayes trailer brake controller, an FM tuner that works off the original AM radio and fire extinguisher on the left B pillar. There are a few minor dings, front behind both headlight doors & right quarter just ahead of tail light. (see photos) The spare tire well has a dent in it.Interior, front seat back rest on drivers side, carpet rear right, headliner left rear above tail gate. There are some small round spots in the paint on top of the right fender, like little flacks of acid dropped when changing the battery or something.
Everything works as it should, one exception is a turn signal is not canceling now. The power tailgate window works with the dash switch or the key in the tail gate. All the windows roll up & down smooth and easy. The drivers door window was dragging a little so I pulled the panel and lubed the regulator and it now works nice. Parking brake works. He changed the oil a lot. The engine and trans have never been removed.Engine compression is 120 to 140. The fan shroud was broke so I made some plates and bolted it together. All the paint under the hood is original, bottom of hood, inner fenders, fire wall, engine, valve covers, air cleaner. It has areceiver hitch and trailer plug.
This is your chance of bidding to win this exceptionally original 1967 Country Sedan, station wagon that drives like a almost new 1967 should. Rust free New Mexico car.See all the pictures to establish the incredible condition of this car.We have photographed everything, but if you have any questions or want more photos, just drop us a line or call. Thisis a perfect example of a unmolested car. You will not bedisappointment. Remember, they are only original once, and this is it!
This car would be a candidate forThe Bloomington Gold ZZenith Award for preservation & also, The Antique Automobile Club of America - Historical Preservation of Original Features Certification Award.
