Description
FORD XBGS COUPE PROJECT
I bought this coupe 4 years ago with my wife with the intention to restore it back to original as possible as it’s a highly desirable build spec but after acquiring a few required parts I have come to realise that being time poor it will never be finished in the foreseeable future. We have since bought a Maverick coupe that although an ongoing project; it’s is driveable and requires a lot less time and money to complete hence this regretful sale.
The engine bay is still in original paint with the tags having never been removed from the car. There is a spot of rust in the firewall seam and a small rust hole near the wiper motor. Engine and transmission were not with the car when I bought it unfortunately. No frontal damage; torque box is good however engine bay cross member is damaged and would need to be replaced.
Shell as had some repairs done by previous owner(s) and these include rear parcel shelf (note the lack of speaker holes) front of inner sills under guards and inner rear quarters. Around boot is very good however rear beaver panel needs replacing as well as outer sills; doglegs and outer lower quarters. Rust repairs would also need to be made to boot floor (note no fuel tank avail) rear floor in car (front floors are good). Bottoms of A and B pillars are reasonably sound (have pics on request) as are door jambs and roof gutters. Some rust at bottom of screen on passenger side but A pillars look sound. Have not had a detailed look at plenum chamber but does not appear to be rusted out (would need to open chamber up to have detailed diagnosis)
Guards would need work or replacement. Drivers door is in good condition but does not have winder or lock assys. Have bought a pair of very good door shells rust free that have had new sections welded in around lock assy (see pic) and also have winder assys for both that I got out of a ute) No door glass avail. Have passenger side rear quarter window assy (still fitted in car) drivers side missing. Front and rear glass (with demister) comes with car. Bonnet is in primer and in good condition; bootlid is in good condition but has had hole drilled for a spoiler (which was not with car when I bought it) No front or rear valance panels or rear bumper supplied. No grille or lights supplied. Wiring still in situ.
Interior still has original roof lining and dash assy (gauge cluster I bought later as it was missing) Has XA door trims in reasonable cond in black (yes I know they’re not correct but they were with the car and I have no use for them) Also has rear trim but is suitable for template only. No seats, belts, carpet or console come with the car. Wiring all still in situ.
Yes it is a big project and will cost a considerable amount of time and money to complete but look at the build list. Would love to see it on the road in this guise but circumstances change and hopefully someone can see its potential and give it the love it needs.
Can organise a group viewing for practical and security reasons (doing this as it’s in storage at my brothers place) Contact me by message or 0434248134 (if I don’t answer leave a message)
Have more photos I can e-mail as well as e-bay only allows 12 photos.
You bid to buy not view and change your mind. Contact to be made within 24 hours and payment/pick up within 7 days. No reserve or buy it now option to be fair to interstate bidders who wish to view the car first.
Regards
Andrew
