Description

Nice 1985Ford Crown Victoria wagon. I am the 4th owner from all records I can find. I bought this car from a couple who received the car after her dad had passed away. They had it several years but found it expensive storing it for the winter in PA. Her father bought it from McCafferty Ford in PA with 60K miles in1990. I bought it in 2015 with 92K with the intention of putting in a 5.8 CI motor and making it a fun street driver. I drove it and found it to be very comfortable, tight and smooth. I thought this car is too nice to change it. Throttle body fuel injection Fords of this vintage were not race cars but still have good power. I repainted the car first as factory paint was failing because of age. No rust holes in body anywhere. It is PPG Oxford White with PPG 2021clear. I added charcoal gray (Lincoln color) on bottom to break it up. I used the best clear on this car. I did find some runs in the paint after I was done. White makes it very hard to see when spaying on clear. I never got around to sanding runs. It has very nice chrome/Aluminum bumpers. I drove it 12,000 miles then COVID came around. Bored silly, I decided to rebuild the motor with spare time on my hands. When I got it apart, I found one cyl was scored/scuffed. To fix that, the Block was bored 30 over with new Hypoeutectic pistons, chrome rings, all new main, rod, camshaft bearings, freeze plugs after good cleaning inspection of block. Crank shaft was like new so a cleaning / light polish was all it needed. Heads were in great shape so they were freshened up with new valve seals and springs to go along with a more aggressive RV camshaft camshaft with new lifters to give it better low-end torque. I used 1990 Lincoln town car exhaust manifolds for slightly better flow (also lighter). I installed a new oil pan to eliminate leaky oil level sensor. New oil pan is solid, no sensor hole. (This car did not come with oil level light). It received oil pump and pick up screen, double roller timing chain. I had installed new hoses and water pump last year. The smog pump is bypassed but has catalytic converters with a cat back dual exhaust. It has new front calipers(police/Taxi) steel pistons and quality pads. All brakes are good and it stops smooth and straight. It has a working e-brake. Alternator and voltage regulator have been replaced along with belts. Interior is stock and very nice. Only problem is dash top cracking at speaker area. These dashes seem to have that issue. I have an 88 Crown Vic with same concern. Cold A/C and hot heat (new heater core first year I owned it). It has Cruise control, AM/FM stereo Radio (no cassette) and tinted glass for options and that’s it. I get asked all the time if it has dual rear facing seats, it does not. However, it is easy to add them, as everything is there for bolting them in from the factory. Nothing on interior is modified. I did add gauges under dash to keep an eye on systems. I worked at Lincoln Mercury dealers for over ten years and know these cars well. I have done preventive issues before they became issues, like the harness for TFI module and TFI are new. Relays for EEC and fuel pump. P/S pump and high-pressure hose are new. I know problem areas, so I just replaced the issue parts or upgraded (like brake caliper pistons)
Car has light surface rust on bottom with NO holes and frame is like new. All steering, ball joints, bushings are tight, alignment is perfect. Tires are about 2 year sold. This car has never towed so rear end is great with no leaks, noise clunks. Trans shifting is perfect. I just drove this car from SC to Akron Ohio this summer2021. First picture is with turbine (15") wheels from a Lincoln, so you see what a difference rims came make. I am selling car with stock rims and hub caps (14") as delivered with when new.
I am in No rush to sell it, so no “lowball” offers will be considered. I have more projects to get to. This is a turn-key cruiser ready to go. NADA high retail is $9,187 (as of 12-17-2021) that would be a car without new paint, repairs and rebuilt motor. All reasonable offers considered. If you have no bidding history, please contact me first before biding. It is best to leave a text or voicemail with reference to the car. I receive a lot of calls every day for work so I don’t want your call missed.
