Description

Here for auction is my Escort RS2000 MK5, which is the most desirable model of the later Escort RS's and now quite rare to find, even harder to find in good condition. This is a good clean running example but not without some faults. Having said that, it is in what I would consider good overall condition for a car that is over 22 years old, and has been well looked after during owner ship (same family for last 8 years).  With the exception of a full through stainless steel exhaust system I have tried to keep the car as standard as possible and kept it original.  These cars are know for rust but this one is solid as it has been sorted in recent years. All the sills have been replaced and underneath of the car, including the floor pans, spare tyre well etc, have been checked and treated or replaced for fresh metal where necessary also including the 'A' posts which are another common area affected by rust (I have photo's of works undertaken and receipts for work done in garage). There is a rust bubble above the fuel filler cap (common area) which I have not got round to sorting, but the replacement panel is included with the car. All the underneath of the car has been fully undersealed and the box section waxed oil to preserve it as much as possible.  The car drives ok and is good through all the gears, there is an intermittent starting fault and I have replaced the starter motor and ignition barrel to no avail and have been told by club members the wire from the starter to the battery might be the problem. I am always able to start the car when it does decide to play up (can show winner how), so has not caused me a problem driving. The car has always been dry stored when not in use and only taxed and driven in the summer months, covering less than 1000 miles a year. Whilst off the road I usually target work to be done and in recent months/years the following work has been done; 4 new tyres, New battery, Alloy wheels professionally refurbished, new front disc and pads, Replaced both CV joints, replaced front drive shaft, new wish bones both side, new rear drum pads inc handbrake, serviced every year (new oil, filter, spark plugs) I do have a folder that comes with the car that includes, the original brochure with price of car originally from ford bristol street dealer, log book, old mot's, repair bills, previous sorn documents etc. This is a great car and is great fun to drive, is not not perfect or by any means concours, but is equally not a rot box or past it like some I have seen. I strongly recommend viewing the car so you can see all the imperfections, wear and tear so you know exactly what your getting but am happy to answer any questions or send more pictures and am confident with my description. The car has passed it's MOT without fail since I have ownership which speaks for itself, is taxed until November and is currently insured with a minimum agreed valuation of £2500 with a classic car insurer for £165 year full comp, which is very affordable. I would prefer cash on collection but will except full payment via paypal, both methods must be in full before I release the car, which is sold as seen so no refunds. Please only serious bidders who are prepared to pay and collect, I will report time wasters. Car is advertised elsewhere so I have the right to remove at any time. Happy to answer any questions Leigh - 07761166145
