Description
Up for auction is my 1984 Ford Escort. I purchased the car about a year ago from the second owners whom have had it since the mid-90s and took very good care of the car. When I purchased the car, I changed out the timing belt, water pump, miscellaneous hoses and belts. It passed California's strict smog with flying colors. Within the last 1,000 miles, it received new tires (on retro awesome 14x7 Appliance mesh wheels). Transmission pan gasket and filter. Cooling system flush. Timing belt and water pump. Cap, rotor and spark plug wires. A custom (California legal) 2.5" cat back exhaust with a very nice Magnaflow steelpack muffler. The exhaust has an excellent tone but is nice and quiet while cruising. Sure to catch some attention with its very unique, deep and mellow tone.
As you can see from the pictures, it is lowered about 3 inches, front and back. Front springs were cut and rear springs are from a Dodge Aries wagon that have also been cut. The back of the car has been cambered a few degrees, but shows absolutely no uneven wear on the tires (tires still have nipples on them). The car drives extremely well and does not ride too stiff, in fact- it still drives like a very comfortable '80s car. In the pictures you will see the front fenders have been widened (they were a spare set of fenders I purchased for the car). I have the stock, uncut black fenders that also come with the car along with the stock 13 inch alloy wheels. Aside from the front fenders and spoiler, the car still wears 100% original paint, and shines like crazy but it does have little dings and scratches as any 37-year-old car will. The car has no overheating issues, starts right up and does not smoke or tick. Heater and air conditioning work, all doors open and shut as they should, all windows go up and down smoothly.
This car is absolutely loaded with options that include: power steering, power brakes, power door locks, remote control mirrors, cruise control, automatic transmission.
This has always been a garage kept, central California car and has absolutely not a single square inch of rust or metal needing to be replaced. Aside from the front fenders and spoiler, the paint that you see is how absolutely straight the sheet metal is that's underneath. No bondo, no repairs. No paint touch ups. No patches.
The good: clean California title in hand with smog papers from February 2021 (registration is $265). Daily driver. New tires. Fully tuned up. Looks great. Drives great. Headlights, tail lights, blinkers all work. No rust whatsoever. Comes with spare set of OEM wheels/tires, OEM grille and OEM fenders (that also match the beautiful shape of the original paint), custom front lip from an s-10.
The bad: cracked front windshield. Cruise control doesn't work. Passenger, front electric door lock actuator doesn't work. Interior is decent for it's age, but pictures show it's condition, which has wear to the driver seat, headliner needs to be stitched in spots etc. A great candidate for a cheap, junkyard upholstery swap.
All In all, it's a very nice, mild custom '80s car that is fun to tinker on, easy to get parts for, reliable and definitely unique.
This auction is set with no reserve and no warranty implied or expressed. I own a repair shop in Loomis California which is about 20 miles East of Sacramento. This is where the car is located.
