1970 MK1 escort 1300 Super, Automatic.
I'm the second owner of this Escort. It had 55,000 genuine miles when I bought it five years ago. It now has 67,000 genuine miles.
Engine
Performance Thumpers & Escorts 2.0L pinto (July 2015), dyno tuned 149.6rwhp. Twin Italian 45DCOE152 webers, big valve ported head, Pep pro stainless valves, Kent Ultimate Road GTS1 cam kit, Kent adjustable timing wheel, Accuspark ignition, YB Cosworth rods, 92mm VW pistons, Mellings high volume oil pump, high volume sump, 60A Bosch alternator with RS bracket, custom 4-2-1 ceramic coated race pipes, 2.25" mandrel bent exhaust system.
In full street trim the car ran a 14.5sec 1/4 mile @ 98mph. This matches the performance of a standard WRX and beats a standard XR5 turbo by half a second.
Drivetrain
Ford Sierra 5 speed gearbox with new seals, custom gearbox crossmember, rose jointed quickshifter, lightened flywheel with ARP bolts, heavy duty English clutch cover with LUK organic clutch plate set up by Jim Berry race clutch. Single piece tailshaft, English axle with 3.98 diff centre.
Body
Aside from a respray by the original owner 25 years ago, the body is completely unrestored which speaks volumes about how much the car has been loved & cared for. It's been garaged all its life.
The car is 46 years old and there are some minor imperfections. Inspections are welcome and highly recommended to genuine bidders. Modifications include, genuine round headlight grille, Narva H4 headlight kit, genuine Twin Cam bumpers, Cibie Oscar driving lights.
Interior
Lowback front seats in need of a retrim. Back seats are tidy but have a few splits. New carpet and Cooltec insulation. Car alarm, small Speco adjustable shift light, Speco 2"oil pressure guage and 2” tachometer, Nardi steering wheel. The original air vents and rear side panels are the same as fitted to Twin Cam escort.
Suspension
Capri struts with new bearing & seal kits, adjustable Koni yellow inserts, Otomoto 5kg coilover kit, GRP4 rubber roller top mounts, custom reverse eye leaf springs, Bilstein shock absorbers, new engine mounts, new poly bushes throughout.
Brakes
2.8i Capri ventilated discs, Bendix Ultimate race pads, New Old Stock P16 (Capri) calipers, Burtonpower caliper spacer kit, New Old Stock 1100cc Escort master cylinder, new rear brake shoes.
Wheels
13x6 13P Aussie Superlites with fresh 205 60 13 Yokohama AO48 semi slick tyres.
Misc
Reconditioned MK2 steering rack with genuine Ford green tie rod ends, 20mm swaybar, reconditioned starter motor, near new battery, reconditioned 2.0L Escort radiator.
Car comes with a set of weld-on Twin Cam arches and some spares including the original brake booster & bracket, solid front discs and Bendix GCT pads. The vehicle will be sold with registration & RWC for Queensland buyers. It's currently on Special Interest Registration and still has the original plate combination from 1970.
