Description
1965 Ford Econoline
About the Van:
When I purchased the van, it had been sitting since 1973. The original owner said he had only used it as a camper, so I believe the displayed mileage is correct (57,473 miles) The engine is a 240, which was the first year they used a bigger 6 cylinder and galvanized coded frame. Transmission is a 3 speed on the tree manual. It has a 9” rear end. The king pins, tie rods, and front end are tight and in very good condition. This van runs and drives perfectly!
The emergency brake works, and I have also replaced the brake shoes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, brake lines, and hardware. All the gauges, lights, and wipers work as they should, but the horn does not work. You can see the list below for a list of the other numerous parts I have replaced.
I have fixed this van up to be the ultimate Hippie machine! As you can see in the video, there are neon lights, shag carpeting, an old antique glider, and tons of 70's memorabilia that line the Luan paneled walls. I installed two Chauvet model 700 smoke machines (one in the front and one in the rear). There are two voltage inverters that run the smoke machines, and are controlled by a wireless remote that can be used for up to 100 feet away. There is a Streetglow sound device that controls the speed and intensity of the fluorescent tubes and black lights. This can be turned on and off, and is also fully adjustable so you can make it flash along with your music.
Note: Music from the videos is not included with the van. (I was using a Sirius boom box) No sound system is included other than the one in the dash, which I don't think works. It is just an old 8 track, which is unhooked right now.
New Replacement Parts:
All new brake shoes, wheel cylinders and hardware kits
Replaced metal brake lines and master cylinder
Cleaned and repacked front wheel bearings
New fuel pump and fuel sending unit
New gas tank
Rebuilt carburetor and tuned up
New clutch and resurfaced flywheel
4 New Good-Year tires
New Interstate battery
New starter
Paneled whole inside of the van with new Luan (wood paneling)
Installed modern-looking shag carpet
Mounted an old antique glider in the back of the van
