Description
Selling my very dependable and rugged 1998 Expedition. I bought it to haul some toys with (trailer, boat, etc), and it's served its purpose. 226k miles, loaded. It's not in excellent condition, like any 20-year old truck with 226k miles, and below is a list of things wrong with it. If you're looking for something extremely dependable, tough, powerful and smooth running, this is it.
Obviously, it's got nearly a quarter million miles on the thing, so, yes, it has its share of very minor scratches and dings. Practically no dents or rust to speak of (one of the reasons I bought it). Like any other Eddie Bauer, it's got leather powered seats, cold AC, rear seating AC, power windows and mirrors, 6 CD changer (currently not working), tow package, and the whole nine yards. Seats 7 with plenty of room in back for all the gear. The two rear seats are currently unbolted but in the back, as I'd been using it to haul stuff back and forth. This truck has been my work truck. Just had $800 in AC repairs, so that should be good for a few more years and $300 in brake work in June 2017.
Regular oil changes, decent tires. it looks and runs extremely well for the miles.
Yes, it has some minor issues. The CD changer doesn't work. It's there, but doesn't work. The passenger door mirror is there, but is no longer powered. The temp gauge acts like it's on crack, jumping wildly all over the range of the dial- yet it never overheats. And the driver side passenger door won't unlock automatically (you have to unlock it manually if you want to open it).
I can't think of anything else. No indicators on the dash are lit beyond those at normal start-up. No check engine light on.
You will need a newer battery. The existing battery is older. I've just sunk $1100 in to AC and brake work so you wouldn't have to, so the battery is your only thing you'll need to make sure it starts every day. I've taken care of pretty much everything else. The list of minor things wrong with it are the things I could live with.
Beyond that, it's a very decent running truck. Uses no oil. I've driven it back and forth to Florida three times hauling trailers and boats, and would do so again. The hooks on the front were used once to drag a semi off the highway in reverse, so I think it's still got plenty of power.
Kbb has it at about $2700 in good shape. For poor shape, I think the truck would have to have serious engine problems, considerable rust or other major problems, and this truck has none. But don't take my word for it go to kbb and value your own make-believe 1998 Ford Expedition, loaded, with 226k miles and zip code of 45044, in good shape.
Comes with two keys. No key fob. Clean title. Cash only. No trades. Located in Middletown, Ohio.
Best times to catch me are in the late afternoon/ evenings. If you show up, please bring a valid drivers license. Just like the auto dealers, I'll ask for your drivers license and take a pic of it for a test drive (my insurance company asks for this in case of an accident). The truck is current with the tags, registration and insurance, so test drives aren't a problem.
