Description
1996 Ford F-150 XLT Pickup
This is one of the nicest original pickup trucks you will find, period. It's overall condition is what you would expect from a 3 or 4 year old truck. It is straight as an arrow, and it is rust-free, even around the wheel wells. The original paint is in excellent condition, still has a high gloss, very very few chips or scratches. It has the original premium aluminum wheels, and they shine nice, only a couple small spots of oxidation. Front tires are nearly new, rear tires have 2/3 tread or better. Chrome shines like it should, it is not cloudy or pitted. It has one small (2" or so) dent in the driver's door and a couple of little pings on the hood, I have tried to show them in the pictures but they is barely noticeable until you get right up on them. Truck drives great, I just drove it nearly 100 miles on the interstate at 70 mph, no issues at all. It has the 5.8L 351 Ford V8 engine, with 139,481 miles, and it runs like a top. Transmission shifts smoothly, steering is tight. Truck has a single exhaust, but muffler is after-market, has the nice low rumble that these Ford trucks are known for. The interior is just as nice as the exterior; no cracks in the dash or door panels, it has the bench seat with the fold-up center arm rest. There is a bit of color fade on the passenger side dash, see the pics. Upholstery is stain-free, it has one tiny hole in the driver's seat where the previous owner forgot to take a screwdriver out of his back pocket. The carpet and headliner look new. Power windows, locks, and seats all work fine. All glass is in good shape, no cracks or chips. We bought this truck from the estate of the second owner, who was a retired trucker and mechanic, and who knew how to maintain his vehicle properly. He purchased it in 2002, and only put 50K miles on it in 11 years. The only known issue is that the rear (auxillary) gas tank may need to be drained and cleaned; it shows a half-tank, but the gentleman's family told me that the gas was old, I have not tried to use it. It is really rare to find a truck this age in this condition; I have described it accurately, it is every bit as nice as it sounds, you would not be disappointed.
Truck is located in Marion IL, 2 hours SE of St Louis, 3 hours NW of Nashville. If you want to check it out, I will be available to show it from Thursday the 24th through Sunday the 27th when the auction ends. Call Mike at 618-922-3800 with questions or to make an appointment to see the truck.
