Description

I found this car sitting next to my buddies folks house and thought what a great project. It was complete, straight and only had rusted out front floors. The previous owner had replaced the original 289 with a 351 W.with a simple belt drive. The 289 and A/C brackets are included in the sale. I changed over the set-up with a surpertine belt set-up that drives the A/C compressor, power steering, new reverse rotation water pump, timing chain cover, timing chain and electric fuel pump mounted by the tank. The motor runs strong with a edelbrock intake, headers, and aluminized dual exhausts. We had the A/C gone thru with new lines fabricated, dryer, and new condenser. It blows cold on 134, but the pump needs to be turned on by a switch under the dash. If you want it to work like the factory intended, I've included a CD for the service manual. The heater control valve was missing when we started and a new one was installed. I found out that after all the work was done over the winter that the heater core leaked. It was plugged and by-passed ( I doubt you'll drive this in the winter). I'm not crazy about the shifter, it works all right and a new cable was installed, I have included the original shifter arm and quadrant.I'm retired and have been doing this for as long as I can remember and I decided to do this car because it was so solid and straight. The car did sit outside and mice built their nests in the cowl area. This plugged up the vent tubes and water came in and soaked the front carpets. Front floors were fabricated and welded in.The cowl was peeled back and vent tubes repaired. All brake lines were pumped out and filled with new fluid. This car has manual brakes and they work fine. All the exterior trim, bumpers, fenders were removed, straightened, polished and painted as needed. This car was originally red with a red interior. I decided to paint it black because it was so straight and I thought it would look great with a red interior. It was painted in single stage ureathane, rubbed and polished-looks great! In the winter, I worked in my basement shop to do the interior and little things that included: new seat covers in the factory style, door panels reconditioned with masonite, dash cover, package tray, seat belts, etc. The trunk cardboard was replaced with masonite and finished with carpet. The window wipers were replaced along with the door and trunk weatherstrips. The windshield has faint wiper marks and a chip out of the inside where the mirror used to mount. It's minor, but I feel it need's to be pointed out.The AM radio doesn't work and I didn't bother putting any fancy stuff in- that's up to you. Also, I put cheap hubcaps on, you can put any style wheel that drives you ( the tires are in nice shape). I drove this car for about a month to get out any bugs and the only thing that needed addressing was to get the holley carb rebuilt. This car runs down the road great with no issues and has plenty of git up and go! Bid with confidence and check our history- you'll not be disappointed. All questions will be answered and shown
