Description
This is a very presentable car that shows well and gets thumbs up driving down the road. It was restored by the guy I bought it from just prior to my ownership, in 2010. He had owned it, sold it, bought it back. I live in MN in the summer, had the car shipped to Phoenix where I have used it seasonally, November to May. It is stored inside and well maintained. I use it for swap meets, cruises, car meeting and shows, it has won some awards during the time of my ownership.
The car is stock in colors that were used in 1955. I am not sure of the paint used or exact color, but I believe they are very authentic for the year, since I am old enough to remember them. Top is powered and works well, fabric and rear window are in good condition. The car starts and drives well. I have rebuilt the front end during ownership and added radial tires to improve the ride and handling. I also have fixed gauges and added seat belts in the front. Chrome and stainless are very nice and all lights and signals work.
It has the small, 272 cubic inch Y block V8 engine with two barrel carburetor, manual choke. It runs well, does not overheat and has very good power to cruise at 65-70 MPH. It does not have power brakes, but they work well, also no Power steering or windows. No rust or evidence of shoddy rust repair. Continental Kit adds a touch of class, as do the fender skirts.
I just bought a 50 Ford Convertible, sold a 50 Mercury, and am just looking to change my inventory.
