Description

Hello,You are bidding on to buy a LHD 1958 Club Victoria Ford Fairlane. I have started the bidding VERY low, if you do not have the funds to purchase please do not waste everybody’s time.
I imported it myself from California earlier this year after seeing it online.
It is the Interceptor Special, sometimes referred to as the Police Interceptor.
It is the 352 cubic inch Ford FE Big Block Motor. OHV – 4V Carb 300hp Power Option.
It is a Factory, Raven Black, two-door Hard Top, three-speed Cruise-O-Matic automatic, 2.69:1 ratio rear axle, and a very cool piece of American Ford Motor History.
Look up the VIN code: H8KV112933 for exact details, or see the decoding as listed on one of the uploaded pictures.I think it is in amazing condition for an un-restored, original condition, 57 year old car.
I also think it amazing that until November 2014 it was a one-owner car, which explains why it is in such good condition.
It is pretty cool to know the history of the Fairlane, which I have and will add after the listing has gone up.
The car is not perfect, it is original, un-restored condition, so it does have some cosmetic “lumps and bumps”, but it’s complete, registered, running, driving, a joy to go cruising in, and fantastic on the highway. It has been register and driving in Australia since the 4 th September 2015
The Good.
Fulcrum Suspensions at Yeerongpilly have gone through the underside of the Fairlane and replaced, repaired, fixed all that it needed. Receipts / itemised $3000
Bob Grant Automatics has inspected the automatic, serviced it, and reports no issue with it.
Auto Carbs Automotive rebuilt the carby, tuned up, repaired and replaced fuel an ignition components, and transformed the performance of the engine. Receipts $1000
Since then Pertronix solid-state electronic ignition has been installed.
Moorooka Car Electrics has installed a new generator and relay, flasher unit, and generally tidied up the electrics.
Bridgestone at Salisbury supplied and fit four new 205/70R14 Hankook K715. Not the white walled tyres the Fairlane had when I purchased it, but the old tyres were old and cracked.
Cut Priced Mufflers at Salisbury, new mufflers and a tidy up of the exhaust system.
Auto Stop at Salisbury did a Carbon Clean for the internals of the motor.
The (only) Bad.
The Fairlane only has 91 609 miles on the clock, but Larry J, the original owner was 92 years old when he sold the Fairlane, so for probably the last 20 years the Fairlane has only had short trips or just regular stationary running.
I have been told with the Carbon Cleaning, oil changes, and a lot more driving to blow out all the carbon build up, the blowing smoke issue may improve. So at times a bit of oil smoke on start up, and a bit out the left (driver side) exhaust when driving.
After 1000 miles of driving, city driving, and two long highway trips, (Brisbane CBD to Sunny Coast and back and Brisbane CBD to Beaudesert and back) four oil and filter changes later, (the oil does still dirty up pretty quickly) the smoke has decreased.
The Fairlane has plenty of power, so it seems no issue with compression rings. It does not affect the driving at all, and for it’s age and weight, it has plenty of get up and go.
It may be more driving, de-carboning the engine may free up the oil rings, or some engine work in the future.

The Expected.
It’s a 57 year old, un-restored car so there are little things that still need to be looked at, none of which will stop you from hopping in and enjoying a cruise.
From Brisbane CBD, I would happily hop in and cruise to the Gold or Sunny Coast, Toowoomba, Beaudesert, Boonah, tomorrow, as I’m pretty sure just about all that needs doing has been done.
It is a joy to drive, great fun to share with a car load of friends, a beautiful old beast, that people everywhere want to stop and talk to you about it.
It is currently registered but I will be selling it unregistered, unless you want to supply the Road Worth Certificate.
The plates will come with the car if you want them 58 CVF (1958 Club Victoria Fairlane).
If you are interstate I am happy to help with transport.
If you want to have a look at the Fairlane CALL me, don’t buggerise around with text messages, but I am happy to respond to emails.
If you are SERIOUS and actually HAVE THE CASH to buy it, I am happy to take you for a test drive. NO you cannot drive it yourself until it is your car, or until you hand over a substantial deposit to cover any damages if you were driving it.
Congratulations if you have made it this far, and are still reading.
Yes, a rather long listing, but I truly think this is a rather special piece of motoring history. My work mate Lon, who has been into imported Fords for years, tells me you NEVER see them at any of the car shows. My family thinks I am crackers for selling it, as even looking in the States I have not seen another version of this car offered for sale in the last 7 months. I know of one rag top convertible in Brisbane, and one two door hardtop in Acacia Ridge, but not the factory black, or the 352 FE motor. So: hard to find in the States, and good luck finding one for sale in Australia.
There is also a box of spare parts, bonnet scoops, and hub caps which will go with the car.
All the Import Papers, California Title, and the original California rego plates will come with the car.
Any questions, please ask, and I am available almost anytime to show the car.
If you would like a YouTube vid let me know and I will get it done.
The car is in Brisbane, Annerley, 4103.
Cheers
Mark
The history of the Fairlane, from Manny, the second owner
Well I don't have any paper work, all I have is story's I was told by the original owner Larry. Larry worked with the California Highway Patrol and owned a restaurant Downtown San Diego.
When he was working with the CHP he had a siren put in the 58' but had to take it out when he retired but the switch is still in the car.
After he retired he worked at the San Diego blood bank.
Larry would tell me over the years so many people asked him to buy his car but he always said no. Driving this car around town everybody knows this car belonged to Larry. I had guys ask me what am I doing driving Larry's car, it's pretty funny. This is a special car your buying and I hope you enjoy it.
Well I'm from San Diego born and raised. One day driving to Downtown San Diego passed by a house and noticed the 58' sitting there, I immediately stopped got out introduced myself asked his name which was Larry J and asked him about it and if it was for sale. He said "No". We started talking a bit more and realized we were both into cars and antiques. Well we became friends and over the month's kept on talking and there was a time where he hospitalized for three weeks.
After getting out of the hospital he then realized his health was deteriorating and asked me in November 2014 if I was still interested in buying the car and of course I said "Yes".
Well December 17th 2014 Mr. Larry J. passed away at age 92. I had plans on fixing it up more but I do have a family and I'm currently in the market to buy a house. That's the reason I'm selling this car.
I've been going to car shows for years now and never seen a 58' at one of them. Yes there was 80,349 made but were are they?
These cars were notorious for rust so most of them rusted out early and that's why this one is a great example of a 58'!
You really are buying a great looking classic.

Hi everyone and thank you for your interest.
Over 1000 page hits and 59 people watching.
I do have the reserve set high, as I don't want to give the Fairlane away.
However if you are the highest bidder at the end of the auction,
EVEN IF THE RESERVE IS NOT REACHED,
if it is close enough to the reserve I will look at making a second chance offer to that bidder.
Cheers
Mark
