77 Fairmont
THE BODY:
I searched all over QLD and NSW before I settled on a good enough body to build onto. This was a solid rust free country car from central QLD that was straight as a die and running fine with a six cylinder in it.
It underwent a professional panels off paint job where the GS bonnet was added. Colour is Monza Red with Gloss Black belly and bonnet blacokouts.
Comes with the Fairmont chrome sill panel and wheel arch trim (pictured). I didn't put them back on as I prefer it without but they're there if you like them.
THE DRIVELINE:
MOTOR:
Fresh 351 Cleveland black block professionally rebuilt by an engineering shop. Barely run in, it's just had it's first oil change.
This engine was running fine in an XE ESP however I got the entire thing rebuilt as a mild street motor. A reliable daily drive with a bit of a rumble.
Mild cam and hydraulic lifters
New 750 holly carb
New aluminium radiator
MSD ignition
GEARBOX:
Fresh shop built C4 auto with stage two stall, oil cooler and BnM megashifter
INTERIOR:
Seats are in great condition
New carpet
The dash is in great shape with no cracks
Doesn't have a radio but comes with the analogue clock
The door trims are not 100% so if your fussy you could have them retrimmed.
ALSO:
The car has heaps of new parts on it such as a chrome alternator and heavy duty starter motor
New custom Fat Pipes headers and twin exhaust system.
New BF Goodrich tyres all round
IN CONCLUSION:
I built this car to keep for myself but my tastes have changed as this is my third XC and I'm after something different. It's only just been roadworthied and it hasn't had much time on the road so there can be expected the normal minor teething problems involved with a full rebuild (tuning etc).
