FORD FAIRMONT XY 1971 RUNNING
This car is still registered, but due to expire in August. There is NO RWC
I am selling this car on behalf of my father. He has owned this car for about 30 years, he is the 2nd owner, and has finally bought another car only for safety reasons.
My dad has driven this car almost every day for general use, shopping , going to work etc. I learnt to drive in this car, and it has been a very solid vehicle, never involved in a crash besides one small fender bender ( the other car)
If you are looking for an XY to do up, you know what you are looking at, but I will try and list as much as I know about it's condition.
This is a 6 cylinder, column shift automatic, in good working order.
The engine has been pulled apart and had bits replaced over the years, by a mechanic, and even had the brake boosters ( I think) replaced a few years back. Dad has always had it serviced, tyres replaced and balanced etc and looked after it, but it has aged (like dad). It has had rust patched up and even had a few coats of paint over the years.
Please look over the photos and give me a call or email if you need more information, and yes you can come and inspect prior to bidding. Overall the body is in good condition for it's age
* General rust spots here and there but I don't think it's major, would need cutting back and resprayed. Missing metal trims from body , I think.
* Interior, floor solid, no lining or carpet in the front, rear floor original.
* front seats torn in places, rear seats in pretty good condition. Not original stereo.
* door liners good - poor. The drivers seat may be broken at the hinge, will have to check with dad.
* I think some water leaks through rear pillars around parcel tray, not quite sure. But I believe some water gets into the boot.
What more can I say, what you see is what you get. Quite sad to sell this car but it needs some loving !! and hopefully will be restored.
One good thing here is if you buy this car you CAN drive it home, no towing or trailers required !!
