Description
For sale is my 2004 Ford Focus ST170 in the very desirable Imperial Blue.
Overall, this car is in a very good condition. It's MOT'd until July but I will ensure a fresh MOT is put on the car for you once purchased. The Imperial Blue paintwork is outstanding and when polished, it really does stand out from the crowd. It has a 6 speed manual Getrang gearbox and looks and drives brilliantly. The interior is a half leather, giving the car a sporty look but ensuring your not shivering when you lean back on those cold winter mornings!
Over the past 2 months, brand new MTEC grooved and dimpled discs have been fitted all round with Mintex 1144 pads. These have greatly improved the car's stopping power! Additionally, I performed a service on the car at the end of April using Fuchs Titan Supersynthetic oil and ensured that new genuine Ford spark plugs and windscreen wipers were fitted. I also replaced both front drop links. The air-con unit has been re-gassed and an antibacterial clean performed on the ventilation system. A new rear coil spring has been fitted along with a rear radius arm and two new lambda sensors (pre and post cat) and a new catalytic converter fitted in addition to a new coil pack.
For those of you familiar with the ST170, a common fault exists with the IMRC (Inlet Manifold Runner Control). The car's IMRC unit has been replaced with a reconditioned unit for peace of mind. For those of you unaware, it is very common for this unit to fail on the ST170 so my fitting a replacement will give you peace of mind and save you money in the long run.
The car's battery is in excellent condition as it was fitted quite recently. All four tyres are in good condition.
Now for the bad points:
1. Unbeknown to me, when I bought the car, there was a mileage discrepancy which was highlighted in the HPI report. This relates to a discrepancy in the mileage dating back to 2010 when the mileage dropped from 108,934 to 50,660. A significant drop and one that unfortunately cannot be explained. When I purchased the car, the mileage was around 81,000. Since then, an intermittent fault with the instrument cluster (potentially the cause of the mileage drop in 2010 - a change of cluster) caused me to replace the cluster (again?) at 82,826. The reading is of the new cluster on insertion was 110,519. By my calculations, that makes the current mileage on the car approximately 140,000. Despite the high mileage of this car, it runs brilliantly, has a substantial amount of torque in all gears and ticks over very smoothly. The gearbox feels precise and the clutch is in good condition. This engine has a lot of life left in it yet!
2. In addition to the mileage discrepancy, at some point, the car has hit a curb causing damage to the front bumper. The previous owner attempted to repair this but has done a poor job by anyone's standard. I've photographed that and included it in this advert. Some of you may be able to look past it but I couldn't. I bought a replacement bumper which is in excellent condition and that just needs a respray before fitting. I will include that with the car.
Thank you very much for looking!
