Ford Focus 08 1.6 Diesel
I took a chance and bought this car second hand with no service history (MOT history since 2011). But the car drove well and was a good price for me.
After around 4 months it developed a slight jerking after the engine had warmed up. It gradually got worse and there was no pattern, (speed, acceleration, time on the road) all totally random.
During the course of its jerking the car showed no faults, I was advised to try the following (in order):
Better quality diesel (BP)
Forte Diesel treatment and turbo cleaner
Fuel Filter replaced
Camshaft sensor replaced (As this did show a minor fault)
Diesel fuel pump replaced
After trying these things over the months the car eventually broke down and I had to call the AA. That was the last time I drove it about as I don’t want to risk breaking down again. The AA advised that car showed no fault (which was exactly what the garages have said).
I’m selling as I have already spent enough on the car and can’t afford to spend anymore. I’m sure somebody mechanically minded or with more money/time could pick up a bargain here.
MOT ends 22/05/16 and cheap car tax around £30 for 1 year tax. The car has done 110634 miles. I was told by the seller that the cam belt was done at 98,000 miles and my garage have confirmed the car has a new cam belt – although I don’t have record of this.
The car starts up first time, every time but due to the nature of the problem a test drive won’t be possible.
I have been 100% honest with all of the above and have paperwork to prove. The price I will accept for the car is the price the auction ends at, you have your chance now to come view the car or ask any questions – no point trying to talk the price down on collection.
When the car runs it runs great and is a pleasure to drive, you will just need to get the issue sorted first.
