Description
1979 Ford Fairmont Ghia "time capsule", very early model, sold new 30 March 1979.
The time has come to reluctantly sell my much loved and very original XD.
I just don't have the time to enjoy it and the storage space is now needed for business purposes.
It has been garaged all it's life but sitting in the shed whilst protecting it from the worst of the weather, is not doing it any good, I've just replaced the brake master cylinder and flushed the brake fluid as the seals in the master had perished from age and lack of use.
I bought the car from the estate of the first owner's widow, so I suppose that makes me the second owner. At the moment it is still registered on it's original number plates until 30 March 2016.
It is as close as you will get to driving a new XD these days. Always driven on country roads, it has NO rust, but would benefit from a light polish and requires attention to silly little things such as a bad earth on the tacho which means it only works occasionally. The window scraper rubber on the driver's door has gone brittle and is breaking away as this seems to have been the only window regularly used. The manual control toggle on the passenger door has been broken though I have got a replacement. Similarly the dash vent knob has been broken off but I have a brand new one to replace it.
The air conditioning is factory, still works and is cold. It still has its original AM radio cassette (also working) and I can even throw in some 70's/80's cassette tapes.
It has dealer supplied tow-bar, and wire stone protectors over the headlights.
Delivery books and workshop manual come with the car.
Driving this car is to experience an Aussie classic and until I bought it, I don't think anyone had even sat in the back seat.
If you have any questions, please call me on 0434294055.
