Description
Up for sale is my much loved Galaxie 500. It is a 352 big block engine and 3 speed auto and was factory fitted with power steering and air conditioning. Period Cragar wheels are fitted.
I purchased this car in 2005 as a running/driving car in good condition for its age and it has been on full NSW registration since. The plan was to enjoy it as it was for a few years then undertake a restoration.
In 2007 the engine was fully rebuilt including re bore and new pistons, new camshaft, new oil pump, crank shaft ground, Pertronix ignition module and the heads converted for unleaded fuel. It runs happily on 95 octane fuel.
In 2009 the body was given a bare metal 2 pack respray in the original colours of Wimbledon White over Raven Black.
At this time the windscreen was replaced and new window seals and weather strips fitted and bumpers re chromed. A new head lining was fitted. The original dealer fitted heavy plastic seat covers were removed revealing amazing original upholstery.
Other mechanical work was undertaken at this time. This includes an upgrade to dual circuit power disc brakes using new power booster/master cylinder and Wilwood 4 piston alloy calipers and new brake lines/hoses. The suspension was firmed up with Tockio gas shock absorbers and a 1 inch front sway bar. A tow bar was fitted mainly to prevent damage to the rear from scraping over driveways. A alloy radiator has also been fitted. The air conditioning is complete but not working.
This car has been my hobby for the last 10 years and is only being sold as my health no longer allows me to continue with the upkeep at a level that I wish to. This car looks, drives and rides amazingly well. The asking price is substantially less than the money that I have spent on the car. I have a collection of period magazine articles and manuals that go with the car.
