March 24 of 20L0 and thln updated on August 14th of 2011'
Vehicle Identification
The car is an unpainted 1930 Ford Model A Tudor sedan custom hot rod serial # A3178362
(taken from the serial plate welded to the front right hand side of the frame)- This is a valid
serial number that fails within the correct numerical range for an American built 1930 Model
A. The Ontario ownership document, in your name, was inspected and confirmed to have the
correct seriai number. The car is not branded. The vehicle is tagged with valid ontario license
plates ..BLAN 14g,,. An odometer has been installed since the last inspection and it is reading
1i3 miles.
Vehicle Condition and Equipment Summary
The car is in generally "very good" overall customized condition. Well known as the
..Hemiroid,,, its briild was completed about 8 years ago by noted custom car builder Stony
Smith of Oddball Kustoms in Uxbridge Ontario. The Ford Tudor body is free of any structural
rust damage and has been heavily modified including, but not limited to, a chopped roof,
shortened overall length, custom designed and engineered gullwing doors,-custom taillights
and the elimination oitfr" car's original wheel welis. The car is purposely left unpainted but is
now coated with "Shark Hide" brand clear metal protectant. The frame is a custom built unit
that has been painted black. The interior is in very good customized condition. The engine is a
1958 Chrystei zs+ CID Hemi V8 that is in very good running condition.

Vehicle Condition and Equipment Details
The front of the car is in generally good condition. The radiator shell and grille assembly
was sourced from a 1935 Ford truck. It has been shortened to fit the car. As on the rest of the
car, no paint is present and as such no body filler is present as well. A custom made
"Hemiroid" emblem has been fiued to the top of the shell. The vintage B-L-C brand headlight
buckets are purposely in aged condition with some surface rust present. Standard headlights are
fitted. Stainless steel side lamps have been added to the sides of the buckets. No fenders are
present.
Both doors are in generally good condition. The car's original doors have been welded shut
as they can no longer be used due to the new location of the rear wheels. The current doors are
custom designed and engineered gullwing units built from the rear side and roof panels of the
body in combination with some new metal to fill the car's opening for the original fabric roof'
They are hinged on the roof, have a latch assembly at their bottom front edge and are suppofted
by a single gas charged strut when open. A custom steel square tube frame has been built for
each door to facilitate this. Custom made laminated slider windows have been installed in each
door.
The balance of the 1930 Ford Model A Tudor body is in generally good condition. As
mentioned it has been heavily customized with a chop to the roof and a shortening of its overall
length. Some new metal has been welded into place on the bottom of the body and towards the
rear of the body to replace in the original wheel wells. Oddball Kustoms emblems are htted to
the sides of the cowl. Again no paint is present but the car is coated with Shark Hide brand
protectant.
The rear taillights are mounted in custom made pods welded to the body. The lenses are
sourced from a 1953 or 1954 Ford and the lights themselves are LED units. Custom made solid
steel rear bumperettes are integral to the rear of the frame and have been painted black. The
body has been fitted to the frame with engineered body mounts.
The car's windshield is a laminated unit mounted to the car with a custom stainless steel
frame. The small rear window is also a laminated unit as are the side glass units. An electric
wiper assembly is added to the windshield. A glass sunroof assembly from a modern Nissan
hai been installed in the roof. A small steel sun visor has been welded to the front edge of the
roof assembly. A Sirius brand antenna is mounted at the rear of the roof. The original Model A
cowl mounted gas tank assembly has been retained and is now fitted with a custom made hller
assembly and sending unit assembly. A black centre accent stripe has also been applied to the
tank.
Two 165/80R15 Nanking radial tires are mounted to polished aluminum Ansen Slot wheels
on the front of the car. The tires date from 2009 and show no real tread wear. The outside
sidewalls have been smoothed to eliminate any markings in the rubber. The rims are in good
condition though the centre caps are aged. The rear tires arcP255170R15 B.F. Goodrich Radial
T/A tires also mounted to wider slotted aluminum wheels with vintage E-T centre caps. The
rear tires also date from 2009 and remain in very good condition. They too have had their
outside sidewalls smoothed. The alloy rims are in good condition outside of a small repaired
area on the driver's side lip.

The undercarriage of the car is in generally good condition. The boxed steel frame was a
new unit custom engineered and built by Oddball Kustoms for the car. It has been finished with
biack POR-15 brand rust protectant paint. It incorporates ladder style bracing for additional
strength. The front I-beam suspension is a vintage 1936 Ford assembly with a single transverse
leaf spring. The rear suspension incorporates a 1974 Cadillac differential. Tube shocks are
fitted at all four comers. The front disc brakes are vented and drilled GM units mounted with
custom made heavy steel brackets. The braking system incorporates a dual circuit master
cylinder and power assist. The floorboards of the car are mainly new metal welded into place
to accommodate the car's new custom configuration. They have been coated with black POR-
15 paint.
The car is equipped with a 354 CID 1958 Chrysler Hemi V8 engine. The engine serial
number LC2Y-1397C confirms that the block was originally a Canadian built 1958 Chrysler
Windsor 354 CID Hemi V8 factory rated at 310 horsepower. The engine was in good original
running condition and did not need internal work before being installed in the car. The engine
is fitted with a four-barel Edelbrock 600 cfm carburetor mounted to a period Chrysler cast iron
intake manifold and fitted with a custom air cleaner housing. A proper crankcase ventilation
system has been fitted since the last inspection. The original "Chrysler Firepower" valve
covers have been copper plated. Some blistering is developing in the plating. A Harley
Davidson oil temperature gauge is mounted in the oil filler tube. A Chevrolet water pump has
been installed with the use of specific adapters for this conversion. A chrome 100 amp
alternator has been fitted. A "Vintage Air" air conditioning system has been installed. Billet
aluminum pulleys have also been installed. A spin-on oil filter adapter has been fitted. The
engine is mated to a General Motors TH-400 three-speed automatic transmission that is in
good working condition. A Hot Heads brand adapter plate is used to attach it to the engine.
The radiator is fitted with an electric fan. An aluminum overflow bottle is fiued to the
radiator. The car's firewall is its original unit in good structural condition and has been painted
black. The dual exhaust system is in good working condition and incorporates two custom
made headers, two glass pack mufflers and stainless steel tailpipes.
The interior is in generally very good customized condition. The original Model A steel
dash has been retained. An Autometer 120 mph speedometer with an integral tachometer is
installed along with a matching Autometer Quad System combination fuel gauge, oil pressure
gauge, water temperature gauge and volt gauge. A Marine Alpine stereo system has been
installed and it incorporates an IDA-X100M receiver, MRP F-300 amplifier, an MC10
controller. Alpine speakers and a Bazooka brand subwoofer are also installed. The aluminum
Grumman buttertly steering wheel is an aviation unit in aged original condition. A custom
made Hemiroid centre cap is installed. A period style aftermarket tum signal switch has been
fitted to the steering column.
A custom made vinyl seat has been installed. RCI brand 4-point safety belts have also been
fitted. The interior of the body is framed with a tubular steel safety cage. Custom side and door
panels have been fitted. A new custom fitted carpet is installed. A B&M shifter assembly is
mounted in the centre of the comparlment. The battery is located behind the seat assembly and
it is securely fitted. A Halon fire extinguisher is also present in the interior. A custom made
heavy duty cover is included with the car.

The car was started and moved but not driven at the time of the inspection. The engine
started easily and ran well with no abnormal engine noises heard and no exhaust smoke seen.
Evaluation
This 1930 Model A has been heavily modified and bears little resemblance to an original
example. Coined the "Hemiroid" by its builder, it has been featured in several magazines and is
now well known in both the local and intemational hot rod community. The chopped and
shortened body, with gullwing doors, set far back on the custom made frame was
unprecedented. The early Chrysler Hemi engine, a valuable unit on its own, further
differentiates this car's build.
The body modifications, custom made frame and the engineering required to marry
everything into a cohesive, functioning vehicle is exceptionally labour intensive. After the first
inspection the car was further rehned by the original builder and fitted with new interior
panels, a new stereo system, air conditioning and new windows. Since the last inspection
further refinements have been made to the interior instrument package, the gas tank assembly
and the engine's crankcase ventilation system.
The only way this truly unique vehicle could be replaced correctly in the event of a total
loss continues to be to build another one from scratch.
