FORD MAVERICK – 1990 WAGON
Up for sale is our 1990 Ford Maverick 7 seater Wagon.
We have owned this vehicle for 8 years and it has been faultless. We are only selling this vehicle as friends of ours had a death in the family and they were selling their Jeep Cherokee 2004 model which they offered to us at a reasonable price which we could not refuse.
The vehicle is duel fuel and is reasonably economical with both fuels combined.
From memory we were getting about 375 klm per a 75 ltr gas tank.
We had just prior to purchasing the jeep had 4 new tyres and rims fitted. They are brand new and have not been used at all. Just prior to that, we had a complete new exhaust system put right through.
The vehicle also comes with cruise control as an added on extra. Also, it comes with a break control unit for towing something with electric breaks.
The vehicle has factory air conditioning. However, this may need a gas top up. It has been very cold but over the last couple of years it has not been as cold as it should be.
The vehicle’s motor and transmission is very sound and has never given us any problems. Transmission is smooth. She uses no oil or water in the 10,000 klm services. We have always had all the services done when needed. The vehicle has done 244,500 klm., but has been well looked after.
The vehicle also has a radio / CD player with Ipod connectivity and is also Bluetooth ready but we have never used this.
She has registration until 5th September and we will leave this with the vehicle. However, as we are in the country and a fair distance from a garage which does roadworthy certificates, we are selling this vehicle without but I am fairly sure that this vehicle won’t need much doing to it. Therefore we are prepared to sell the vehicle somewhat cheaper for this reason.
As you can see, all the seating is neat and in good working order with the exception of the driver’s seat where some stitches have let go. However, we have not worried about it as we have seat covers.
Also included in this vehicle are all necessary hitches required for children’s car seats and as you may have seen that she is a 7 seater and as far as a 4 WD is concerned she rides reasonably well for its age. We had a cigarette lighter fitting fitted in the back as we used to have an Engel fridge in the back of the wagon and also had a live wire fitted to the 7 pin plug for lighting to whatever you are towing.
You may have also noticed that she has a tow bar fitted in the front making it so easy to manoeuvre your boat, caravan or trailer making it very, very easy to move things. The goose neck as seen in the front is just a matter of pulling a pin to be removed.
Thing wrong with the wagon that I know of:
Slight rust around the bottom windows on both sideswhich is not a big issue and does not leak.The holder to switch to change from gas to petrolhas broken and we have managed to use it the way it is. You may choose touse it this way also.You may have noticed 2 slight dints on either sideat the bottom of the front mudguards. These were there 7 years ago when I bought the vehicle. Apart from that, I am not aware of anyother defects except for the usual wear and tear of a vehicle of this age.
This vehicle would really suit a retiree couple who need a van to tow a caravan around to see Aus., without having to spend too much money on an expensive RV as we are sure that this vehicle has many years left to enjoy without too much expense.
