In the end, the Schwarzenegger design was chosen, and put into production in 1994. When the 2003 SVT Cobra was designed, it took the name Terminator, a nod to the original SN95 concept. By chance, it coincided with the termination of Chevrolet's 35-year long Camaro ponycar program, giving the name added impetus.* Terminator production numbers: A total of 12,162 SVT Cobra Mustang Terminator coupes were produced (8,394 for 2003 and 3,768 for 2004) and 6,978 SVT Cobra Mustang Terminator convertibles were built (5,082 in 2003 and 3,768 in 2004) for a grand total of 19,140.* Terminator engine: The 2003 2004 SVT Mustang Cobra engine was 4.6 liters in displacement (281 cubic inches) and produced 390 hp at 6,000 rpm and 390 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 rpm.
