Description
This 1990 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 is a Special Edition car with
only 6800 miles and owned by one owner, my father-in-law. He purchased this beautiful car from Galleria
Ford in Houston Texas and brought the car to Canada in 2001 with a
documented 5931 miles. The car has EVERY piece of documentation
including the window sticker, Bill of Sale,
and also the ownership tag and licence plate info from the dealership. This car is all original except for four brand new tires that were put on a week ago. I am selling for my father-in-law as he is elderly. This car never seen rain as it has been stored in a heated garage while in Canada. This is a true Collectable!
This is a so-called "7-Up" edition car. The 7-Up Company held discussions with Ford to build a small number of special LX convertibles with specific options that were usually reserved for GT models exclusively; 7-Up originally planned to give away these cars as part of a special marketing program. Prior to production, the 7-Up Company notified Ford that it was not going to go forward with the program, but Ford decided to go-ahead and build a larger number of vehicles based on a similar options group. These cars became a Ford Limited Edition vehicle that also happened to coincide with the 25th Anniversary of the Mustang model. Ford had not planned a special 25th anniversary model, but did observe the occasion by adding a special dash emblem of Mustang's running horse logo with the words "25th anniversary" inscribed at the bottom. All Mustang models produced within the specified dates had this special dash emblem installed. However, since 1990 this special run of LX convertibles has become known variously as the "25th anniversary model", the "7-Up" model and the 1990 "Limited Edition" model, with only the last being truly accurate. Ford also built Limited Edition models in 1991, 1992 and 1993 which were denoted with special colors and white Pony-style wheels, as well as a special list of options in each year. All Mustang convertibles built in this period left the assembly line as notch back sedans and were then sent out to American Custom Concepts, a specialty Detroit-area custom shop, to remove the metal tops and re-build the cars as convertible bodies.
Following is a list of all options on this car (from the window sticker):
- 5.0L EFI HD 8-cyl. engine - EEC-IV computerized engine controls - Automatic Transmission - power rack and pinion steering 15:1 ratio
- traction-lock axle - handling suspension including variable rate springs, gas pressurized struts and shocks, power brakes and steering
- white power convertible top - luggage rack - P225/60VR15 performance tires - 15x7 cast aluminum wheels - aero halogen headlamps
- dual electric remote mirrors - tinted glass - power windows - Special Value group - leather-wrapped steering wheel
Special Value Goup which was $1341.00 option includes Speed Control, Premium Sound System and custom Equipment Group.
The bill of sale shows a Cash price of $21273.00 plus tax.
