Description

Original, numbers-matching, 12,500 total miles, AS-NEW condition. This is an all original car: paint, interior, engine and drivetrain, top, carpet and wheels are all the factory installed/applied items. It drives right down the road with no problems, just as you'd expect from a 12,500 mile car. There aren't many of these models left in this condition with extremely low miles; and like car colletors will tell you, THEY'RE ONLY ORIGINAL ONCE!
And it's a 5-speed manual!!! Nothing compares to the thrill of accelerating hard, then slipping it into the next gear while the exhaust rumbles and burbles, followed by the quick acceleration in the next gear forcing you back into the driver's seat! I like it so much I've got a second 5-speed '90 LX Ltd. Ed. with 64K miles I use as a daily driver in the summer!
This is a so-called "7-Up" edition car. The 7-Up Company held discussions with Ford to build a small number of special LX convertibles with specific options that were usually reserved for GT models exclusively; 7-Up originally planned to give away these cars as part of a special marketing program. Prior to production, the 7-Up Company notified Ford that it was not going to go forward with the program, but Ford decided to go-ahead and build a larger number of vehicles based on a similar options group. These cars became a Ford Limited Edition vehicle that also happened to coincide with the 25th Anniversary of the Mustang model. Ford had not planned a special 25th anniversary model, but did observe the occasion by adding a special dash emblem of Mustang's running horse logo with the words "25th anniversary" inscribed at the bottom. All Mustang models produced within the specified dates had this special dash emblem installed. However, since 1990 this special run of LX convertibles has become known variously as the "25th anniversary model", the "7-Up" model and the 1990 "Limited Edition" model, with only the last being truly accurate. Ford also built Limited Edition models in 1991, 1992 and 1993 which were denoted with special colors and white Pony-style wheels, as well as a special list of options in each year. All Mustang convertibles built in this period left the assembly line as notchback sedans and were then sent out to American Custom Concepts, a specialty Detroit-area custom shop, to remove the metal tops and re-build the cars as convertible bodies.
This Mustang has been garage-stored since new and has received special care to protect its originality. The paint shines as new with absolutely no chips, scratches, dents, dings or other blemishes; the interior is showroom new, as is the engine compartment, trunk, convertible top and all weather seals. There is no curb rash on the wheels. Even the map pockets on the lower door panels are as-new; they've never been used and so lay flat and tight, not all sagging and mishapen like most you see. Everything works as it should. The only parts replaced have been oil filters and the battery. As with all LX Limited Edition models, this car features the 5.0 liter V8, but has the more rare 5-speed transmission. Approximately 1360 5-speed cars were built as LX Limited Editions.
