Description
Up for auction is a very rare & nicely restored 1967 GT 390 4 speed Mustang Convertible with xlnt color- Clearwater Aqua Metallic. Documented vehicle has a 'Marti Report' showing all the original features it came with from the factory. This vehicle received an extensive restoration including all mechanical, paint, interior, weatherstrip, chrome, etc, & focused on originality with a just a hint of attitude.
Purchased new at Midway Ford in Los Angeles, CA., this vehicle has never left the State & has all it's original quarter panels & floor pans. This is currently a 2 owner vehicle & was sitting in dry storage since 1984 prior to my ownership. The odometer reads just over 56,000 miles which may be original since it was parked for 30+ years, but mileage is not documented. Below is a list of major mechanical components rebuilt with under 200 miles of use:
1) 1967 GT 390 4V engine (block casting # C7ME, heads #C7AE) completely rebuilt & balanced with .030" TRW forged pistons & mild performance camshaft.
2) Top Loader 4 speed big block transmission (tag # RUG-M) completely rebuilt
3) Correct 9" limited slip posi rear end (date code # 6K28) completely rebuilt
4) Power steering system, front suspension, & rear suspension completely rebuilt
5) Power disk brake system completely rebuilt
The restoration list continues with new 2 stage correct Clearwater Aqua paint, new black deluxe interior, new weatherstrip, new high quality Robbins top with glass rear window, new front windshield, new 15 x 7" Styled Steel wheels with new 60 series BF Goodrich T/A radial tires, all stainless exterior trim removed & polished, most exterior chrome redone, heater system rebuilt, new dual exhaust system, & much more.
This Factory GT Convertible is also loaded with the following options:
- GT equipment group-fog lights, dual exhaust, disk brakes, performance steering & suspension, GT badges & decals, GT pop off gas cap, & more.
- Power disk brakes
- Power steering
- Power top (added as a luxury feature)
- Floor console & shift
- 4 speed transmission
- Limited slip rear end
- Deluxe interior with brushed aluminum décor
- Styled steel wheels (upgraded to 15")
The body on this car is excellent condition, floor pans still show their original red oxide factory primer, quarter panels are original with factory texture coating on the inside, doors are original with no rust repair & original door tag, & fenders are original Ford with date stamps. Battery tray apron panel was replaced due to acid corrosion but the original # stamped portion was retained & goes with the car. Hood was replaced in favor of a deluxe turn signal unit which is a reproduction.
I have owned many classic & muscle cars over the years & this is one of the best driving big block 4 speed muscle cars I have experienced. The transmission & clutch work very smooth & effortlessly, steering system responds nicely, brakes are excellent, & overall this a very easy vehicle to drive.
Don't miss out on the opportunity to own this rare & highly collectable GT convertible with excellent color combination. The value on this vehicle will only go up over time & just in time to enjoy over summer!

Thanks to everyone inquiring & bidding on this great car. A few people wanted to know if all the gauges, signals, etc, work on the vehicle. The answer is yes, all the dash gauges & lights, signals, lights, tachometer, speedometer, etc. are in working order. There are only a few things that do not work or have minor flaws as follows:
1) Factory in dash clock does not work. I don't think they ever do unless you put a quartz movement in them.
2) Original AM radio does not work. I figured most people would want a more up to date stereo so it was not restored.
3) Deluxe factory plastic seatbacks. These are 48 years old & have a few cracks & repairs. I heard from a competent source that the reproductions don't fit well so I chose to keep the originals on the car. Stainless trim that attaches to these is in decent shape.
4) vent & quarter windows have original chrome. All other chrome & stainless trim pieces were replaced and / or polished.
5) Paint is decent 2 stage (base coat / clear coat), considered good driver quality paint job . Far better than any 'production' paint job, but not a $15,000+ flawless paint job.
END
On another note, a knowledgeable friend advised me to elaborate on the AS-IS business listed above so here goes:
Buyer / winning bidder understands & agrees that vehicle is being sold strictly AS-IS with no warranty expressed, written, or implied.
