Description
This Mustang started life as a Grande coupe, numbers matching with 54000 Miles. I bought this car as a project in progress, and it was missing a lot of pieces. This car has been completely rebuilt top to bottom inside and out. I will attempt to list everything. The car was completed in October 2015, and I have not had it on the road since it was completed.
Engine
The engine is the original 302 and the Cars VIN is stamped on the top of the block behind the intake. The engine and tranny were removed and both were completely gone through. The bottom end of the engine was in perfect condition, so the oil pump and all seals and gaskets were replaced. The cam was replaced with a performance cam, and lifter set. All frost plugs were replaced. The heads were checked and the valves were cleaned, seated and new valve seals installed. A ford aluminium intake was installed replacing the factory 2bbl. A new 4bbl Holley was installed. Aluminium Valve covers and a oval air breather top it off. A new alternator, water pump, Aluminium Radiator, upper and lower rad hoses, heater hoses installed. The engine has no oil or coolant leaks
Transmission
Is a C4 3 spd automatic. It has been inspected, and the front and rear seals replaced. The gear selector seal was replaced at that time, and the filter and pan gasket has been replaced. New transmission lines have been installed and there is no leaks in the transmission.
Rear end
8 inch open rear end. Has 3:0:0 open gears. The front pinion seal was replaced, and the rear end has no leaks
Brakes
All new steel brake lines ( Classic Tube), front and rear flex hoses, rebuilt factory calipers, new rear wheel cylinders, front pads, rear shoes, new emergency brake cables, new master cylinder, resurfaced front rotors and rear brake drums.
Suspension
New front upper and lower control arms, New 2 inch drop springs, new coil spring saddles, new outer tie rods, new ball joints, new front and rear shocks, new sway bar end links. I had a front end alignment on the car after the front suspension was installed.
Fuel
New fuel tank, new sending unit, new fuel pump.
Exhaust
Eagle full length headers dump into a custom x-pipe, to a pypes brand stainless 2.5 inch system. True duals stainless mufflers exit out to custom turned downs that dump behind the rear tires. Looks and sounds amazing!
Wheels and tires
Wheels are 15 X 7 American Racing Ansen and are in excellent condition, with no road rash. The tires are Good year Eagles 255/60/15 all the way around, with lots of tread.
Interior
The interior was a factory avocado green. It has been replaced with New black interior. The complete interior has been replaced. The carpet, headliner, dash pad. Both the front and rear seats have had TMI seat upholstery kit installed. The interior is in excellent condition and shows perfect. The gauge lens shifter selector seal, glove box insert, and the console arm pad are new. Even the pedal pads are new. The factory steering wheel has been replaced and the car has a tilt column.
All the weather strip and seals have been replaces from front to back, including the rear window seal. A new windshield was installed after the mustang was painted. There has been a trunk carpet kit installed ($329 from year one)
Body
The Body had new quarters installed by the previous owner. I had the entire body stripped to bare metal, rust free fenders, hood and truck lid were installed. These panels are factory ford and there is no Chinese aftermarket panels on this car. The body was prepped and 4 coats of high build epoxy primer were laid on and the car was block sanded to make it laser straight. The paint is base clear PPG pepper grey metallic, and looks amazing in the sun. I had a custom satin black stripe painted on the car, as is the rear tail light panel. The stripes are vinyl and purchased at graphics express. I installed a new Mach I chin spoiler. The rear bumper has been tucked to the body and painted body color. All bright trim around the windows and drip rails have been painted satin black. New hood hinges and hood springs were installed. All new bolt kit was purchased to complete the finished look under the hood. Nothing was overlooked on the car.
The underside of the mustang is solid. The frame rails and torque boxes are in excellent condition. The previous owner has repaired a couple of hole in the floors, and they are solid. Trunk floor is excellent,
The condition of this car is excellent and it runs and drives as good as it looks. The mustang tracks down the road straight and sound great. It has a lot of power the engine has a nice sound to it with the new cam installed. I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere, just not in the winter!!! This is a one of a kind car, and I think this is what a 73 coupe should look like. Included in this auction are all the factory parts removed from the car, intake carb, manifold, I have the ford head gaskets that were removed from this engine as proof that this engine was never touched! Everything that was needed to be replaced has been. I am selling the car because of a slow down at work. I need the money for this car more than I need the car right now. I have reserve on the car to protect my investment. I have a folder full of parts invoices that will show the level of detail that went into this car. I have not had this car on the road since it was finished in October.
I have more pictures of the car, if you are interested email me and I will send them to you.
The bad
The Mustang could benefit from a power trax posi unit or a new center section, but I will leave that up to the new owner, and the tilt column has some play in it, I am pretty picky, and this should be addressed. I did not realize this problem until after the car was back from the paint shop for final assembly . If the buy it now is used I will take 300 off the total for repairs.( that is the quote I received to repair the column)
