Description
Full size photosThis vehicle is located at our Indianapolis location
The GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1940 Ford Coupe for your consideration. This example benefits from a recent restoration and was enjoyed only briefly following completion before the owner unfortunately passed. The black exterior paint job and all brightwork on this vehicle are in excellent condition. The gray cloth interior of this vehicle is in excellent condition and benefits from also being restored. Powering this vehicle is the iconic flathead V8 which has been totally restored and is believed to have been treated to some tasteful period upgrades. This Ford sends the power to the rear wheels through a three speed column mounted manual shifter. Currently showing just over 42,000 miles on the odometer this beautiful restored Ford Coupe is ready for it's next collection.
A high flat-topped hood dominated the front look of the 1940 model, as the grille spread out to reach the fenders to differentiate the Deluxe line and the headlights were pushed wider still. The standard Ford inherited the grille of the 1939 model with blackout on each side of a heavy chrome center; heavier headlight surrounds serve as another major differentiator from the 1939. 1940 was the last year of the 1937 design and its smaller V8 engine, with a straight-six engine to be reintroduced the following year. Sealed-beam headlights were one of the few major advances for 1940, while a hydraulic top was new on the convertible.
