Description

1980 Ford Granada ESS with 58k original miles. Arizona car until June, 2014. Absolutely no rust whatsoever including none under the original vinyl roof. Underside of the car is extremely clean as well. All chrome like new with no pitting at all. Interior completely clean, unfaded, and unworn. No sagging of headliner. No dash cracks. No cuts to original rear package tray with original speakers. Original working am/fm stereo. Trunk has all original clean gray felt and gray cardboard pieces. NOS Goodyear Custom Polysteel white stripe DR78-14 radial tire goes with car. Car is all original with added set of Magnum 500 wheels, but original wheels and wheel covers go with car. Car has 302 V8 engine, automatic transmission, cold factory a/c, factory sport steering wheel, factory dual sport mirrors, power steering, power front disc brakes. Starts, runs, accelerates, and stops just as it should with no problems. Very quiet car. No noises, vibrations, leaks, or other issues whatsoever. Everything works as it should, including speedometer and odometer, gas gauge, all lights, wipers and washer, etc.
Car has its original paint, which from a 'critical eye' rates about a 7.5 out of 10 but still looks very good. Car gets MUCH attention and praise wherever it goes. I have included a photo showing that the original pinstripes are even still in very good shape for the age.
Nitpicks, all pictured (last 3 on the end), just to be 100% thorough with no surprises whatsoever:
1) Driver's door has a very shallow scratch, depth is likely less than 1/16".
2) Right rear window crank knob is cracked.
3) Sunvisors are missing the rod ends where they would snap into the center bracket.
The 1980 model year was the last for the original Granadas before the design was changed. This car is a very early 1980, having been assembled at the factory in August, 1979. There are part numbers and date codes still visible throughout this car.
In the past, I owned a white 1973 Mustang hardtop and I must say that this car drives and handles a lot like that did. My only reason for selling is that my favorite cars are the Ford full-size, like the Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, Torino, Galaxie, LTD, Ranchero, etc. I might trade for an exceptional one of those. The car is for sale locally as well, so this auction may end at any time.
It would likely be quite difficult to find a better preserved example of an original, unmodified ESS.
Glad to answer any questions that you might have.
Shipping is at buyer's expense, but I can assist as needed. Funds must completely clear before car will be released to buyer. Car can remain here and will be cared for as long as necessary while arrangements are being made.
Good Luck and Happy Bidding!
