Description
The truck is a tan coloured 1950 Ford F-1 custom pick-up truck serial # JJ81H5024299
(taken from the serial plate mounted to the right hand side of the cab firewall). The Ontario
ownership document, in your name, was inspected and confirrned to have the correct serial
number. The truck is not branded. The serial number is a valid Canadian built 1950 Ford truck
number and decodes as follows; 'JJ'- Ford model F-8 truck, '81'- Cab and chassis, 'H'-
Windsor, Ontario assembly plant, '50' - 1950 modelyear,'24299' - sequential serial number.
As the cab and parts of the box are the only original elements of a 1950 Ford truck used in this
custom build, the fact that the cab was sourced from an F-8 model as opposed to an F-l is
inconsequential. The serial plate also included a trim code'16'and original paint code'91'
(Vermilion).
The vehicle is currently tagged with valid Ontario license plates "BHDY-234". The
odometer shows a reading of 03,709 miles. This is an increase of only 3,086 miles since the
last inspection. As the odometer was a new unit installed during the truck's build it is believed
to show the true, total life mileage on the truck since completion. The condition of the truck
supports this.

Vehicle Condition and Equipment Summary
The truck is in generally "very good" to "excellent" overall customized condition. It is a
unique build completed by noted custom car builder Stony Smith of Oddball Kustoms in
Uxbridge, Ontario just prior to the last inspection. The Ford cab and box and the Hudson
Teraplane grille assembly are all rust free. The truck was painted in a combination of satin and
gloss finishes in what is believed to be a 1930's Hudson "Tuscan Tan". This combination was
not intentional but is not obvious to the casual observer. The frame is a custom built unit for
the truck. The interior is in very good customized condition. The engine is a 1955 Chrysler 331
CID Hemi V8 that has been rebuilt.
Vehicle Condition and Equipment Details
The front of the truck is in generally excellent condition. The radiator shell and grille
assembly was sourced from a 1937 Hudson Terraplane. It has been painted to match the truck
and shows well. There is a skim coat of body filler where the original headlight mounts were
hlled. The original grille insert has been polished and is in very good condition. The "Hudson
Terraplane" emblem is in very good condition. The original Terraplane ornament has not been
sourced or fitted. The headlights are believed to be 1932 Lincoln units that are in aged original
cosmetic condition. Their glass lenses are in very good condition but they do not match.
Modem Xenon arc HID headlight bulbs have been retrofitted to the housings as well as period
style turn signal lights.
Both doors are in very good overall condition. They have been "chopped" and customized
to conform to the chopped cab roofline. A skim coat of body filler is present that relates to this.
There are no dings or dents evident on the driver's door but a couple can be seen on the
passenger door. No scratches were seen but a couple of paint chips were noted on each side.
The satin paint has been clear coated on the doors. Both chrome door handles are in excellent
condition. The door and window weather stripping is also in excellent condition. No hinge
wear was noted on either door. The "door to cab" panel gaps are not consistent. The doorsill
panels and 'A' and 'B' pillars are in very good condition. They have been painted to match the
truck. Custom sili trim plates have been fitted.
The cab assembly is in generally very good condition. The cab has been heavily customized
with a chop to the roof and channeling to the floor to allow the cab to sit lower on the frame
rails. Body filler was found in the roof panel and cab comers related to this. One paint run was
noted on the roof panel and a crack was seen at the driver's door opening.A paint crack was
also noted at the base of the driver's door opening.
The truck's windshield, door glass and rear window are all newer unbranded laminated
safety glass in excellent condition. These pieces have been custom made to fit the truck's new
roofline. New seals are also fitted. The door windows have been upgraded to ventless power
operated units.
The pick-up box is in very good condition. It has been heavily customized and widened
with a custom steel substructure. The original box sides were retained and they do show a skim
coat of body filler throughout. There is some metal work visible at the front corners of the box
that was not finished with bodywork. The top rails of the box shows some pitting that was
painted over and a thin finish inside the rail ends. /3

The original embossed Ford tailgate is in generally good condition. There is an unrepaired
dent in the area of the embossing. Stainless steel tailgate chains are installed. The chrome
taillights are in very good condition.
The bed is fitted with a vamished plywood floor that is fitted with chrome steel skid strips
to give the appearance of the original wood bed. An access door for the Optima Red Top gel
battery, properly secured below the bed, is present. An alloy gas access door is fitted. A RCI
brand aluminum fuel cell is mounted below the bed. You have added a modern style charcoal
canister and fuel vapour recovery system to the fuel system, something very uncommon on any
custom vehicle.
The truck is fitted with two smoothed 6.7A-15 i65l80R15 Nankang CX668 radial tires
mounted to chrome steel "smoothie" wheels on the front of the truck. The rear tires are
smoothed 255170F.15 B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A tires also mounted to widened chrome
smoothie wheels. The tires date from 2009 and 2010 and remain in very good cosmetic
condition. The chrome rims and "baby moon" hubcaps are in excellent "as new" condition with
no curb impact damage seen.
The undercartiage of the truck is in excellent condition. The boxed steel frame is a newer
unit custom engineered and built by Oddball Kustoms. The front suspension is a vintage Ford
Model A assembly with a single transverse leaf spring. The rear suspension incorporates a
newer 2008 Ford F150 rear axle with limited slip differential. An airbag rear suspension is
fiued. Disc brakes have been installed at all four corners. The floorboards of the cab are solid
and rust free. The stainless steel dual exhaust system is in excellent condition and incorporates
two Hushpower II mufflers, black "lakester" style headers and catalytrc converters. Again, the
converters are very uncofilmon on a custom vehicle.
The truck is equipped with a 331 CID 1955 Chrysler Hemi V8 engine. The engine serial
number NE5534032 confirms that the block was originally a i955 Chrysler New Yorker 331
CID Hemi V8 factory rated at 250 horsepower. The engine has been rebuilt using a Hot Heads
brand rebuild kit. This included, but was not limited to, new pistons, rod bearings, camshaft
bearings, crankshaft bearings, double roller timing set, lifters, performance camshaft,
adjustable pushrods and a conve(ed 340 hi-volume oil pump and pick up. The engine is fitted
with a newer four-barrel Holley 650 cfm carburetor mounted to a Hot Heads alloy intake
manifold. An AutoGage fuel pressure gauge is mounted inline ahead of the carburetor. A
reproduction Cadillac air cleaner housing is fitted as are original "Chrysler Firepower" valve
covers that have been coated with a black wrinkle finish. A Joe Hunt brand ignition magneto is
installed. Billet aluminum pulleys are also fitted. A Vintage Air brand air conditioning system
is installed and controlled from a panel inside the glove box. No wiring problems or fluid leaks
were noted.
The engine is mated to a remanufactured Ford Tremec WC T-5 five-speed manual
transmission that is in excellent working condition. A hydraulic clutch release is also fitted.
The radiator is an aluminum unit that has had a custom filler neck installed. The cab's firewall
has been painted black and is in very good condition.

The interior is in generally excellent customized condition. The steel dash was painted black
and shows well. The originai dash trim is aged. The dash is fiued with a newer Haneline
combination speedometer, fuel gauge and volt gauge aurrd a combination oil pressure gauge,
water temperature gauge and tachometer. A JVC KD-AVX77 CD stereo is fiued to the dash
and powers Alpine speakers mounted in the kick panels and tweeters mounted in the door
panels. The two-spoke steering wheel is sourced from a 1950 Ford car and is in aged original
condition. A Grote turn signal switch has been fitted to the steering column.
The original bench seat has been replaced with two new ProCar brand vinyl bucket seats
that are in excellent condition. A Hurst shifter assembly is mounted in the centre of the cab.
The carpet is brand new and in excellent condition. The door panels are custom pieces in
excellent condition. The headliner has been temporarily removed. Dynamat heat and sound
insulation has been fitted throughout the cab below the carpet and trim.
The truck was started and moved but not driven for the inspection. The engine started easily
and ran well. No abnormal engine noises were heard and no exhaust smoke was seen.
Evaluation
This 1950 Ford truck has been heavily modified and bears little resemblance to an original
example. The chopped and channeled cab and Hudson Terraplane grille assembly combination
may be unprecedented. On first glance the truck appears to be built in either a'Nostalgia" style
or "Rat Rod" style. However, on closer inspection it is clear the build draws from both of these
geffes but also incorporates high performance elements cofilmon on "Resto-mod" style custom
vehicles as wel1. This amalgamation of styles combined with the fact that this truck also
incorporates several elements of a modern emission system results in a truly unique vehicle
that challenges any strict classification. Though there are some cosmetic issues with the current
paint, the balance of the build was finished to a very high level.
