Description
An impressive example of the fast-disappearing authentic original "survivor" car. This 1969 Ford Thunderbird Landau is in exemplary condition for a car that has never been restored or tampered with. If you love the vintage luxury of the late 1960s combined with the power of the 429 Thunderjet V-8 engine, this is a car you won't want to miss. It is rust-free and runs like a dream, not to mention it comes with original provenance (bill of sale, original owner card and 1969 sales brochure) tracing the car to its initial purchase in Kaneohe, Hawaii in 1970.
Mechanicals: 429 cu. in. Thunder JetV-8 with 360 hp; 4.36" bore x 3.59" stroke; 4-barrel carburetor;automatic choke; premium fuel; dual exhaust. Just installed a new heatercore. The car has no leaks.
Three-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly.
Airconditioning does not work, but this car can be retro-fitted toaccommodate new refrigerant.
There is a crack in the passenger exhaustmanifold; the car comes with a new replacement manifold ready to beinstalled.
Body: As stated and shown in photographs, exterior is exceptionally clean for a car of this age. There are small nicks or chips in the finish (see photographs), but no sign of rust anywhere in the car. This Tbird has suicide doors that align as they should and shut solidly. The paint shows some of the fading typical of lacquer paint of that era. Chrome is entirely intact, including the "gems" in the wheel covers and directionals. There is some bubbling in the chrome of the passenger front door handle.
The driver's side rear quarter panel has an area that appears to have been repainted with a very slight shade difference from the surrounding paint (something that generally has to be pointed out to be noticed). There is no sign of detectable body work in the area when viewed from inside the trunk. The sequential directionals and vacuum-operated headlight louvers alloperate perfectly. The landau roof is in remarkable condition with nosign of fading or wear.
Everything under the car is rust-free, thanks to the car's original undercoating and limited driving. This Tbird is equipped with new Michelin Roadhandler Plus performance tires.
Interior: The interior is in extremely good condition. Dashboard and rear deck have always been shielded and are entirely free of cracks and fading. This Tbird has the upgraded deluxe Brougham cloth interior, which has extremely limited wear with the exception of a small (1/4") hole in the driver's seat cushion. The headliner is taut and free of stains, rips or wear. All gauges work correctly. Original AM/FM radio and power antennae in perfect working order. Brougham package courtesy lights also function as they should.
All in all, a vintage luxury car that's ready for you to hop in and head out on the road. Happy cruising!
