1968 Holden HK Brougham 307 Chev Powerglide Auto
Suit HK,HT,HG Monaro buyer but about 1/3 of the price.
Up for sale is a 1968 Holden HK Brougham 307 Chev Powerglide Auto Power Steering and factory LSD
I bought this 6 years ago a bloke in his 60's just out of Melbourne. It was his fathers car and the final asset in his estate. So it was a deceased estate one owner ( I am the second) and it comes with the original purchase records as per photos. Was originally purchased in Queensland before being the original owner relocated to Victoria.
It is a factory 307 Chev with powerguide auto, it is the original number matching engine.
When I bought it, the original paint was a little faded and it had one really minor scrape on rear wheel arch, and a couple of marks here and there. It had a couple of rust bubbles under the vinyl roof, and in the lower front guards. It was the original paint until I had the body bare metal by soda blasting. There was no other rust, nor had there been any in the whole body. Soda Blaster said it was the best bare metaled HKTG series body that he'd ever seen. I had the body professionally paneled and painted by Bevan Gray (does a lot of rod and street cars) in the original factory colour Inca Gold. The paint is 2pak but it is a smooth flat acrylic like finish (not orange peely) The body and paint is gun barrel straight and looks awesome. The panel and paint are truly immaculate. Underbody and chassis have absolutely no rust.
My original intent was to import another complete crate motor small block Chev from the states, and I've pulled out the 307 which is on an engine stand and the powerglide transmission. The Interior has also been removed, the inside floor shows the original red oxide paint and is immaculate. The door trims are in exceptional condition, I've bought new carpet, the front bench seat needs recovering, rear is in great condition, it has the original AM radio. It also has complete air conditioning which I have removed. Has original wheels and wheel trims (not centrelines as per most photos - these are gone)
Most of the trim has been polished and put back on, all is there and is exceptional condition, door handles re-chromed, and I've replaced rubbers and clips where required and installed polished stainless bolts in most places. All panels are aligned other than bonnet which is on, but I removed when removing drive line.
It is complete, all parts are there and it requires mostly reassembly, it needs the front and rear screens fitted, and vinyl roof put back on. It doesn't have the front screen, vinyl for roof or exhaust - you will need these items but are easily obtainable. The boot area is carpeted and again in exceptional condition.
This Brougham is truly immaculate, will not disappoint. I have had and restored many H series cars and have never seen one in this condition. I'm selling as I think will be too good for me and the family to enjoy once finished, as I'll stress about taking it out. Plus we have a HZ Sandman which we enjoy using.
Inspection welcome and recommended, wont disappoint it is located in Belmont, Geelong.
Your choice, factory original with number matching driveline or keep it on the engine stand and drop something else in. Also comes with powder coated small block chev extractors that i was going to use. If you are looking for one to restore or do up, this in the one. You can see how exceptional the body and floorpan are before you reassemble.
No tyre kickers please, no swaps or trades. Will help where I can with coordination with transport and freight - but won't organize. It is rolling, but motor and gearbox are removed and will nopt be installed by me to transport.
Starting price is the reserve, its just about what the panel and paint cost on an exceptional foundation to start with. Will not accept anything less - you do the sums of what it would cost to get to this condition.
Photos with the vinyl roof are pre panel and paint so you can see how good it was beforehand.
