Description
I'm selling my LS1 V8 VX 2000 Calais which I have owned for 4 and half years. As you can see from the pictures it is in very good condition. The interior is I what I would call immaculate. I like to keep all my cars in excellent condition. I replaced the original interior with leather seats and door cards from a later model VZ Calais. The front seats are full electric and have no cracks or holes in them. And the back seats are just as good. The carpet is in great condition as well, as they have been covered with floor mats. There is wood grain inserts on the dash and transmission tunnel. The leather steering wheel is in great condition as is the auto gear knob. The LS1 V8 in this car is in excellent condition. I service it every 7,000 KM. Since I have owned it I have done all my own services with full synthetic engine oil. I have also replaced the water pump with a new item including a new thermostat due to a slight weep it had. It also had a new oil sensor switch, new spark plug leads installed as well. It is a very healthy motor which makes good power and can funnily enough give decent fuel economy for a V8, if driven sensibly. It doesn't use any oil or blow any smoke either. I had the Calais Mafless tuned about 3 years ago which changed the car completely. The power is there when you need it but it also drives like a standard one when you want it to. Since I have owned it I have only ever filled it with 98 octane fuel. I have a set of brand new Iridium spark plugs which have just been fitted. Included also will be the standard ECU and standard air box if you want to convert it back to original and remove the Mafless tune! Some other great features of my Calais are the 20 inch wheels. These set off the car very nicely. The rear tyres are brand new and only done around 1,000 km.
The front ones will need to be replaced shortly. Although included for the buyer will be the standard 16 inch Calais alloys with tyres which should pass a roadworthy. The suspension is standard height and very comfortable for everyday driving. I have also replaced the front and rear discs and brake pads with new ones around 10,000km ago. So there is plenty of life left in them. It also has a cat back 2 and a half inch exhaust system which sounds great. As you can see I have spent a lot of time and money on the Calais getting it to this stage and how I wanted it to be. I had the air con re gassed in January this year and it works beautifully. All electrics work great and the touch screen DVD player is handy on those long drives for the kids. The stereo has the standard Calais speaker set up which is pretty good. Two 8 inch subs and the 6 speakers I think it is. There are probably a few things I left out which I will add if I remember them.
I have also just renewed the registration so there will be 12 months rego on it for the new buyer!
Also has a heavy duty tow bar set up.I also have a brand new fuel pump to go with it and some big upgraded front brakes and callipers which I bought second hand to fit up but never got around to doing it. I also have a spare remote which will need to be reprogrammed to suit the current car. So there are plenty of spare bits to go with the new owner as well. Now for the other bits..It will need new front strut bearings which are around $50 and about $80 to fit. I just don't have the time to do it. There is a slight vibration because of it. But that's all it is. There are some small stone chips on the front but that's what you would expect for a 15 yo car. The paint is very good, I'm just fussy about it. I really don't want to sell this car as it took me ages to find one in this good condition. But..I just cant afford 2 regos. It wont be sold with a Roadworthy but wouldn't need much to get one.If you have any questions regarding it feel free to call me. If I don't answer please leave a message and I will get back to you ASAP.Thanks Chris
This car is also listed elsewhere so maybe removed without notice. The car can be viewed in Ferntree Gully, Vic.
If the car doesn't sell it will be stripped and sold for the parts. Hopefully I wont have to as it is to good to be wrecked. I don't think you will find many in as good condition. One bid will buy it. No paypal please. Cash or Bank deposit only.
